John Renbourn R.I.P.

John Renbourne has sadly passed away.

The musician was found at his home in Hawick in the Scottish Borders today after a suspected heart attack.

He was and remains a great influence.

That is very sad. May he be at peace.

I was sure I heard him on Radio 4 just last week! I am very glad I have his music to remember him by.

That is sad.

I saw him with Bert Jansch several centuries ago.

Yes sad news. I saw Pentangle a couple of times when they reformed a few years back. Absolutely stunning.

Went to Pentangle in Dublin in '69 or '70'?, Aula Max in Earlsfort Terrace, with John Peel as compère. Currently listening to 'Basket of Light', a masterpiece.

Roll on John!

First saw Pentangle at the "7th National Jazz and Blues Festival" at  Windsor 1967 or was it 66? Bert and John were then playing electric guitars whilst Danny T wasn't having any of that new fangled electrical stuff and resolutely stuck with his double bass, a muted set on the main stage, but in the tented area later absolutely stunning. My idea of cool in my late teens was walking around with John's first LP tucked under my arm, caught John two weeks ago with Wizz Jones, still firmly at the top of his game. I feel the same sense of loss that I had when Bert J and Lou Reed passed, and tomorrow's "Another Monday".
