Unless I was dreaming I thought I heard that we maybe getting a filmwear update to enable us to stream Spotify @ 320kps and not the MP3 standard we get now. ??

Steven, I think you might have got a little confused. the Spotify Connect feature streams using the Ogg Vorbis codec and not the MP3 codec. Spotify does not use MP3. The Connect feature works with Spotify Premium which uses a 320kbps bit stream. Later firmware updates from Naim may introduce lossless streaming from other subscription services..

Could new filmware be a home cinema add-on?

Sorry my MP3 quote was just meant as a description of my thoughts on the sound quality I get now.

Was I dreaming when I heard or thought I heard that spotify premium was available @320 when using a desktop and that Naim was working on a fix to enable their streamers to output it as such

The latest firmware enables you to play spotify premium through the Naim. It streams to the Naim direct from Spotify servers, with no need to have a computer running. Is this what you mean?

That's how I use it at the moment just thought that it wasn't streamed at the best quality through Naims software and they where working on a fix.

Steve,

I currently subscribe to Spotify Premium (320 kbps), and am able to access the service from both my Naim and Linn streamers. The difference is that I access the service (in 320 kbps) on my Naim streamer directly via the Spotify IOS app using the built-in Naim/Spotify interface, but I access the service on my Linn streamer (in 320 kbps) using a Spotify Windows desktop app and Songcast to stream the feed to the Linn device.

The Spotify Windows desktop app is very good, but I can't think of how I could integrate it with my Naim streamer - which is what I assume you would like to be able to do.

Sorry if I have confused some..
I have a unitiqute 2. Fully updated, I am of the understanding that spotify premium is @320kps.. I can access spotify with the use of my iPad/iPhone and it works really well... My question was "somehow I heard that the unitiqute whilst being able to read and output music at 320kps it doesn't do so with spotify and that Naim was working on a fix "

Your Naim can stream 320k Spotify.

Hi,

No - the 4.1 firmware allows streaming from Spotify Connect at Spotify's full supported bitrate ... there's no fixes to be worked on there from us.

Cheers

Phil
