Pinguin Radio listeners

Posted by: Jota on 01 April 2015

Hi,

I usually tune in to Paradise and Pinguin in equal measure and when I hear a song I've not heard before I can just check the app to see what the band and song is.  That is until recently on Pinguin Radio, it now seems to be called Pinguin Radio NS in the app and instead of giving the artist and track information just gives a code like - 000385DC.

What's happened here and does everyone get this?

Would be nice if the 320k stream was in the Naim iRadio listings

... but the stream is 320k. The code problem is there though.

I'm not sure we're on the same wavelength here!

The stream is still 320 kbps MP3 but there's no track/artist information anymore and the name has changed from Pinguin Radio to Pinguin Radio NS.

Instead of Artist/Track there's now some code made up of numbers and letters.

Are you guys getting the same?

Yes, the track and artist information is indeed missing. The name of the station seems to be changed also.

Thanks for that osprey.  It's a bit annoying when I hear something I like and can't find out who it is.  Their website isn't much help either.

The hex codes you see are the actual track/artist titles.

Seems like an error on the server side, hopefully this can be fixed.

According to their Twitter account they're having server problems and are working on a fix.

Seems to be related to last weeks massive power outage in the Netherlands.

@Jota: Use Shazam in the interim?

And it's fixed.

Indeed it is. I'd never heard of this channel before. There seem to be loads of good stations in the Netherlands.

Agreed its a nice listen but I sometimes reach for the iPad as it can get a bit too .... lets say younger set,  but hey its a bit more to my taste than R6

Paul Simon followed by Sufjan Stevens at mo.,  nice

Then Gang of Four,  OK but a bit too Smiths for my taste - not so maniac depressive thro'

What's Shazam?

From wiki: "Shazam is a British app for smartphones, PCs[1] and Macs, which is best known for its music identification capabilities."
