Any plans to have HDX DSD ready?

You'll find that the DSD capability is only being included in those boxes with the SHARC processor - which means the ND5xs, NDX, NDS, Superuniti, and 272.

Will there be updates for the nDAC too?

Why not just convert a DSD file to 24/88.2 PCM. I have heard some SACD "rips" converted this way and they sounded really good.  Doubtless the DSD file will have been converted to and from PCM at some point, possibly numerous times.  How much real DSD material is actually out there right now? And of that, how much that's interesting?

Richard, sorry, my mistake. I should have been more precise.

I was asking because MarkKcK79 finds that the new firmware improves PCM replay on his NDX too.

So maybe the nDAC will be improved too by some fimware update.

I was hoping to see a HDX /w DSD...converting of files is an option of course :-)

Wonder about that as well....

Its an interesting question Richard (Dane, above), or rather several questions....

I agree there are great PCM versions of SACDs out there. Conversely others maintain converting a PCM file to DSD on the fly yields an improvement. How important is the 'purity' of the chain, be it PCM or DSD ?

Many folks feel wav sounds better than flac at point of playback. But a wav can be converted to flac, and back, or vice versa, with no degradation seemingly (and logically). Its only the final playback format that matters. Maybe that's true of DSD too, or maybe its simply the master that matters far more than anything else.

There are at least some 'pure' end-to-end DSD recordings out there which I'd regard as essential listening, eg on nativedsd.com: David Elias - 'Crossing'. In surround sound this is simply sensational. But converted to PCM it may still be so. A conundrum......

Any chance we will see another update for the HDX with added functionality in the near future?
