I think you are going to have to be more specific in your question. The SU is an all in one, the amps you mention are just amps, with no source. Clearly an amp such as a 282/Hicap/250 with a suitable source sounch as an NDX is going to be a lot better than a SuperUniti - it costs three times as much.

Thx hungryhalibut, that's exactly the answer , i was expecting.
I shall only listen to dematerialised music bought through Qobuz (24/192), so, i shall be very grateful if you could give me the best configuration that can be built with Naim products. (No matter the price)

That would be the NDS with two 555PS power supplies, with an S1/P1 amp, with a pair of Ovator 800s. If money is no object, you could add an active crossover powered with a Supercap, and two more P1 amps. £400,000 should cover it.

Why not go for a six pack P1 active. Why settle for anything less? 400 or 500K, all the same ????

The six pack is what I was suggesting, maybe not sufficiently clearly. A concrete floor would be needed for sure.

And some decent teabags that can make a hearty brew for the lifters & shifters.

Very funny. If you want to help me, i would say 12000£ Max.

You did say no matter the price.....

If it was my money, I'd be thinking about a 272, XPS2 DR and 250.2. Alternatively, an NDX, XPS2 DR, Supernait 2 and Hicap DR. I'd also sell those 'orrible looking speakers and get something more discreet.

Ok thanks a lot, i'll consider all your advices.

+1 for what HH sugested, these are probably the best value for money options, providing maximum sound quality per Pound.

If you don't mind more black boxes, I would also seriously consider a NAC282/HiCapDR or Supercap/NAP200 or 250.2 combo, with a top quality source such as an NDX powered by either an XPS2 or 555PS, DRed or not. You might also want to investigate the Chord Hugo / 2Qute DACs as an upgrade to a plain NDX instead of adding an external power supply. Quite a number of people here prefer the sound of the Hugo to a Naim DAC/555PS and even NDS/555PS.

Personally, I would buy pre loved, i.e. not new, as much as possible. Best from an authorised Naim dealer, that way you can compare a 282 based system to the suggestions mentioned by HH.

A big thank to Totemphile and HH. I have now enough bread to eat (food for thought). I shall now start listening to these pieces  of advice in retailer shops to make up my mind. I shall tell you what i will have bought.

agree with HH: SU / 250.2 + CM10 is what I've got and it isn't the best combination...

I think SU / 250.2 with a quality standmount speaker will be much better.

or, if you're starting from scratch, a 272 would be worth checking out

Until NDS is upgraded to 272 quality or higher by Naim I think you'd get better sound quality from 272 with those power amplifiers - unless, of course, you feed the digital out from NDS in to Hugo, which is a bit of a game changer

NDX is way behind digital replay through 272 - though Naim are reportedly addressing this with new firmware. As always though if you want a solution now then the answer is the first name of the man who wrote Les Miserables (mind you unlike the musical, the DAC is not boring at all).

Can the mere placement of a Hugo (or indeed a picture of one) within a room produce an improvement to an existing Naim system or do you actually need to connect it up ?

Just curious.

Would Mr Wat, as a disciple of the 272, like to say how it sounds without the £4,000 of Super Lumina cables which it had at Bristol? How does it compare with the NDS with similar cabling (other than with the Statement/outsize Focal speakers)?
