n-Stream and naim app user manual

Posted by: Igor Švab on 07 April 2015

Hi tech supp guys from Naim!

I am using Superuniti with ios and android apps for remote control and was always wondering what is behind some settings in the SETUP part of the n-Stream and naim app.

Is there a user manual for n-Stream and naim app?

I would appreciate if you could explain:

n-Stream (ios)

1. Auto connection

2. Stay connected

3. uPnP compatibility mode

4. Use HiFi language

naim (android)

5. use streamer's language

my own answers so far are:

1. when I start the app it should automatically find last selected naim streamer

2. stay connected all the time. What happens when I close the app? Does it run in the background?

3. This seems to limit remote control functionality like seek to time...

4. and 5. no clue. Some Naim proprietry streamer language?

One more request. Could we get classis Naim green back for the new style app? I just prefer it.

Hi Igor,  there is not a manual,  its easy enough to learn without it

It does not have auto-connect,  on first open, it goes to the all inputs selection screen.  iRadio, UPnP, USB etc..

Stay Connected means the app does not go to sleep when playing an album or long play list or when playing (unchanged) iRadio. It uses a bit more battery, but its insignificant & more convenient with it enabled IMO

UPnP Compatibility Mode is the app reading & using the streamer data,  it is OK,  but art quality is poor.

Use HiFi Language uses the same language that the streamer is set to. English, German etc...

Agreed I too would like the Naim "Olive" green back,  but it would not be the same unless the text fonts are also green,  so my guess it will not be the same,  but it would be nice to have it as another colour in "Styles".  The colours we have are a bit yuk IMO

Just checked the iPad verision of the app. There was a silent update to 4.4. In the Tools menu there is a questionmark ? icon. When you click on it the menus expand with explanation of the particular function. Great.

android app 1.3 on the phone does not have this option yet. Same for ipod touch 4 with n-stream 3.6.

Good that you found the "?",

I should have mentioned that,   & its was bad of me to assume you knew it

.....  like I said "its easy enough to learn without it" .....its all part of the Naim experience
