RIP Doug Sax

A master among masterers with extensive credits in multiple genres. Founder of The Mastering Lab, I think most vinyl aficionados recognize the consistent, quality sound associated with a "TML" stamp in the deadwax. An early naysayer to digital, he later mastered CDs, once he felt the technology was adequate to reproduce a sound quality he would put his name on. He passed away this week from cancer at the age of 78. http://www.analogplanet.com/co...-sax-has-passed-away

Thanks Joe, I had missed the sad news until you posted. The industry needs people like Doug, let's hope there will be others with the same values who will continue to step up to the challenge. R.I.P.

Doug's work was stellar. I was very fortunate and grateful to have had him master a couple of my albums 30 years ago. Definitely a "master among masterers" as Joe put it so well.
