Apple Photos

Anybody here tried the new Photos? I've converted a small Aperture library for playtesting, but quite disappointed so far - don't mind the simplified editing tools, but decent asset management is far too cumbersome. Far more iPhoto than Aperture.

I agree EJS. I too have converted a small Aperture library and really miss the familiar assets management and also the extra tools. Since Apple announced the demise of Aperture I have been trying to use Lightroom, but keep going back to the former.

I hope there will soon be some third party plugins to enhance it, but when Lightroom 6 comes out it could be a winner.

I would forget about Apple and photo asset management. It's obvious with the abandonment of Aperture Apple has no interest in pro photography. I don't plan to migrate to Photos either, since Apple with no doubt abandon that too after a while.

I'll switch back to Lightroom when I get around to working with my photo library again. I stated with it at v1 and v2 and switched to Aperture. That was a mistake.

Agree with you all that Apple's own software isn't the answer - which leaves Capture One or Lightroom. As a Sony camera owner, I was surprised to see Capture One now has a library function and is fully functional and free, so will start playing with that. I remember Lightroom to be functional but hard to love - but it has been a while. Have the library functions improved in its latest incarnations?
