Record Store Day 2015

You'll need to find your country's link in the text to see available titles http://www.recordstoreday.com/
Anything generating much excitement?
Even Joan Rivers' stand-up comedy has been remixed and remastered for RSD. Because "Can we talk?" really needs to be captured on vinyl.
Looking to get the Otis Redding 2x12' vinyl
Zilch. Nothing there floats my boat I'm afraid.
I was called by Julian who owns my local record store today. He has decided not to do RSD this year but will be holding a 50% sale on all stock for one day only. I'll definitely be there for that.
I am hoping to get Brian Eno My Squelchy Life & Bardo Pond 12" single. Unfortunately I have to work so chances are slim unless I find a store that still has copies the week after.
Looks like I will miss out, SWMBO has just reminded me I have a Dog Show on Saturday!
That's ruff!

Maybe tell her you're going to buy The Animals "We're Gonna Howl Tonight"
osprey,
Great, you got The Animals. Please, let us know what you think of it.
Well now I have had a chance to spin this once:
I would say that this is not any hidden gem for which one should fight for. The tracks on this album are broadcast recordings from 1964 (even the speaker who announced the names of the songs has been included). Some of these songs they recorded later for their normal studio albums and these versions are not any better. The pictures on the cover as well as the text in the back cover are interesting and the quality of the vinyl is good. Although I doubt I will be playing this album very often it as a piece of history fits in well on the bit thin The Animals section of my record collection so I am glad I got this.
I had the Animals in my hand and decided that it might be early recordings of some sort and put it back - it looks as if that was a good decision. I would like good copies of their early albums though.
i picked up Dr Strangely Strange, Bert Jansch and William Tyler. The latter is a bit of a disappointment - I thought it was a double album version of something I had already but it turns out it is the same but on two 45 rpm discs. William Tyler is one of the guitarists with Lambchop - a virtuoso.

really happy, went to Rise in Worcester
got a copy of Holger Cukay Eleven years Innerspace on Gronland recors, 2x10" in gatefold, only 500 copies pressed

Hi, after a quick look at this thread I could not see any mention of the Mono RSD release of Strange Days. If anyone out there did get a copy I would be interested in how it sounds.
Regards Graham.
I picked up a copy of Strange Days mono yesterday.
It is a very nice pressing; flat and quiet, and the SQ is excellent.
Well worth it if you like the album, regardless of whether the mono is significantly different than the stereo mix.
You get that nice mono punch and solidity.
If you want to dig deeper into the differences in the mixes etc. suggest a look at the Steve Hoffman forum.
Couldn't be arsed to look for anything as, imo, the event is fast becoming too "commercialised" and overhyped. Maybe it's just me.
Avoided the stampede and got what I was after today, not everyones taste but Mixes from Erasures latest album on red vinyl with download versions as well. Last one in the shop.

No Tony. That's just how I feel. It's interesting that my local record store had a sale on instead and there was a bin outside of RSD albums from last year at half price. The bubble has probably burst..... or the sausage.

G - My mate, who was in the States last weekend, picked one up and said it was amazing, although I've yet to hear it for myself.

Moi aussi. There seems to be less interesting stuff each passing year and this year the only things that piqued my interest were the Banshees' Join Hands (in new sleeve and with an extra track) and the Doors album, plus a couple of singles. With the exception of the Doors LP, I'm fairly confident of picking them up at good prices once the hype dies down.
Now my Nak is working like a dream, I might start embracing Cassette Store Day (hopefully it will return in 2015).

Glad to know I'm not alone , Steve. I feel sorry for the the kids being exploited as it is probably a passing phase for most of them and all these albums are going to be discarded as any other trend, but not old folks, who should know better. Silly people!

Kev, nice to hear your LP12 is back on the road and the Nak is rocking once again.
I hope the outcome of RSD is that people (re)discover the pleasures of a real shop as opposed to automatically ordering everything from The South American River online. It seems rather selfish not to support it simply because they haven't done any special releases that tickle your personal fancy. Days like this help to support people in their jobs which otherwise would disappear rather like bookshops and other delightful denizens of the high street. Without them it'll just be endless charity shops and estate agents, and who actively wants that?
I made a point of going to my (relatively) local record shop, bought four CDs that had been on my wishlist for a while and ordered another four whilst I was there. It was great to see the shop full and buzzing. Being sniffy about the special releases not being to my liking would have been rather out of place in the circumstances.

Been struggling to get hold of the items I wanted but managed to pick up Eno squelchy life via Burning Shed Website. Still searching for Bardo Pond 12".
I popped into a local shop yesterday and got Anne Briggs Lp and Dr. Strangley Strange Kip of the Serenes Lp so pretty happy.

Hi Tony
But been so busy travelling etc with work, not had too much time to listen recently.
