Simple Audio Roomplayer + Clicks / Pops Before Track

Following the demise of Simple Audio I have bought very cheaply a couple of their latest (final) Roomplayer + streamers.

The idea was that, until Naim start producing multi-room streamers with access to Qobuz, etc Simple Audio would do more or less everything that Sonos can do, while also handling 29/192 files which Sonos cannot do.

This has largeyly proved to be the case.  The interface is not as slick as Sonos (eg the ipad / ipod app is out of date and won't be updated and you can only access Qobuz via pc).  The SQ is arguably better than Sonos, with one exception: you get a very annoying click / pop at the start of each track.

As par as the click / pop is concerned, both of my Roomplayers feed, via toslink, into Naim DACS.  According to Simple Audio's FAQ, it's the Naim DACs that are responsible for the click / pop and there's nothing Simple Audio could have done about it.  This doesn't ring true - I feed Sonos into the same Naim DACS and don't have the same issue.

Can anyone suggest a solution or should I conclude that the company's demise was not entirely unwarranted?

I've also got a similar problem with the Simple Audio Room Player+. It took me some time to get it set up (in a fashion) and on streaming my first few files I noticed the Click/pop at the start of tracks. I'm also noticing that it's also sounding as thought it's skipping a few notes at the beginning of each track. I'm also running it through a DAC but it's nothing as exotic as a Naim, in fact it's the Arcam iRdac!

Fortunately the unit I have is on a long term loan from a local Hifi dealer with a view to buy. The dealer was upfront telling me that there will be no support in future and I'm on my own if I decide to buy. The Simple Audio unit was intended to replace a Sonos Connect and I must confess the Simple Audio unit does sound marginally better than the Sonos when played back through the iRdac but having had excellent support from Sonos in the past I'm really reluctant to part with it.

So all in all it looks as though you're experiencing the same problem as I am with a different dac which would suggest it's a software fault with the Simple Audio player
