Multiple Mu-so

Or should that be Mu-si?

I've just purchased one of these and I've got to say I'm very impressed. So much so in fact that I'm considering purchasing another.

I've read that you can control more than one unit using iTunes. Can anyone confirm if this is correct and how the feature works please?

You can via iTunes using Airplay if your PC/Mac is on the same network as your mu-so.  Follow the steps from the mu-so online guide. It's possible to link up other Airplay devices this way not just multiple mu-so units. Link below:

I think you may find that if you have a mu-so and another Airplay device (eg another mu-so, Zeppelin Air, etc.) playing in sync, you may find a latency issue (ie not quite in sync).  There is a fix for this in the beta pipeline at the moment.

You make it work by clicking in the Airplay logo either in whatever app you are using as the Source.  And select either single rooms or multiple rooms.

At the moment you cannot use a mu-so as a source for Naim's multi-room capability, though it will act as a client for multi-room from another streamer (Qute, SuperUniti, etc).

If you're using AirPlay you can stream to multiple devices from a Mac, as in the link posted by Earpy, but only to one at a time from an iPhone.

Good point Chris.  Sorry for the wrong info Earpy.

I was thinking of the scenario where you use the Remote app (available on the Apple store) to control iTunes on a Mac or PC which does allow multiple rooms to be selected.  But as Chris says if you are running, say, Spotify on an iPad and you press the Airplay button you can only play to a single room.

Just to add one more possibility...if you have a Windows tablet or PC and a decent router, you can run either Tuneblade or Airfoil (both paid apps) and stream from any audio source to multiple airplay devices. I find Tuneblade works particularly well with respect to synchronised audio streams on several speakers.

That sounds interesting Ross. Thanks.
Does the app allow you to access other music sources such as Spotify?

@Rudy welcome Yes, you can stream from Spotify or indeed any audio source. With tuneblade (to get the best sound quality) you will need to install a virtual audio device such as VB-Cable:
