resizing a photo in iphoto for publication.

Posted by: lutyens on 16 April 2015

i apologise in advance if this is really easy but........

I simply need to resize one of Mrs Lutyens' photos for insertion in a brochure and it needs to be at 300x300 minimum. I have 'staff' who can do this is Photoshop but how do i do it on my Mac Pro with iPhoto! I have searched but it all seems incomprehensible or suggests i use Photoshop!

many thanks

james

I use Gimp, is very good.

Canvas resize is the tool you need in Gimp for doing that.

300 x 300 is quite small. What size do you want to upsize it from?

If you are looking to downsize the photos, older versions of iPhoto offer an automatic downsizing in the e-mail menu.

Click on the Mail icon at the bottom of the iPhoto-screen and you will get a choice of three sizes. Sort of a workaround, but it works for me (Mac mini, iPhoto ca. 2008).

thank you all. That is helpful.

As for the existing size, it varies but Mrs L is being asked to provide the photo at a specific size hence my question.
