Sorting of song list

Posted by: akarelias on 23 April 2015

I am a new owner of the Naim Mu-so, which I have connected to my Mac Pro via optical toshlink cable. No problems here.

I have another Mac-mini computer, running Windows 7, which is connected to my network via AirPort.

The Naim Mu-so is also connected to my network via ethernet.

I tried to stream music from my Mac-mini using UPnP. I have two Pink Floyd albums in the iTunes collection on that computer.

I installed Kodi on my Mac-Mini, and did all the necessary work to have these two Pink Floyd albums appear in the Kodi Music collection.

Using the Naim App on my iPad, I tap on UPnP, then I select my streaming server (i.e. Kodi), then albums, and then the two Pink Floyd albums appear. I tap on any one of them, but I notice that the song list appear in alphabetical order and not in the correct sequence of the album.

This is very annoying.

I tried to solve the problem but could not. I do not know if the problem is with the Naim app or with a particular setting on Kodi.

Any help will be most appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards - Andreas

The issue is with the server software. The Muso can only see what the server sends, and if the server sorts the songs in alphabetical order there is nothing the Naim can do about it. Have a look at your settings or use a different server package.

Not familiar with Kodi, but the usual cause of this behaviour (in my experience) in other streamer software is that you are using Folder view. If you use Album, or Album/Artist to select your album then you should find that the songs appear in the order on the original album.

Thank you for your answers.

Well, I added another album in the iTunes collection and subsequently in the Kodi collection and what I discovered was that this new album does nt have the sane problem. The songs sequence that appears in the Naim app is correct.

Another strange thing that I discovered was that if I use my second iPad, the song sequence in that iPad appears correct in all three albums.

As it happens, my second iPad shows all songs in correct sequence (in all three albums)

My first iPad shows the songs in correct sequence in one album, and in alphabetical order in the other two albums.

Very strange indeed. Any new ideas?

Hi Andreas,

have you tried to reset the Naim-App on first iPad?

In some cases, this would help...
