Unitilite Newbie questions about front end.

Posted by: laurierxx on 28 April 2015

Hi sorry for my first post being a cry for help but I have 4 days left for a full refund.

1. Won't work with my logitech harmony remote.  Anything I can do to fix this?

2. Is there a front end I can use to control like the squeezebox and logitech media server from my computer?  I have a somewhat large music collection and the android app does not seem to cache anything, so if I look at an Artists albums when I go back to the artist page it re-reads the entire thing which takes about a minute.  The albums page is much worse.
I've tried using UPnP server on my windows 8 box, Foobar2000 and Logitech Media server but they are all slow.

3. What's the point of the iradio web page?  If I add a channel there I still can't access it on my Unitilite.

Thank you for your help.

Is the music on a NAS? it really needs to be. If you then run a decent upnp server, such as Asset or Minim, it will all work properly. The UnitiLite is a very nice system, you just need to set it all up.

+1 HH

The Unitilite is a very nice little system, and correctly set up it's easy to use and sounds rather lovely. As HH says, it's far better with a NAS, ideally wired (via a switch) to the Unitilite. With that set-up the app is very quick and responsive.

Not sure about the iRadio question . . . .can you not access radio at all, or is it just added stations?

I can access iRadio I was just looking for station and found through these forums a page to

http://myradio.naimaudio.com/s...AuthLogin/SignIn.asp

if I add the station here I don't see how it works.  Just wondering what this page is used for.

I am not very experienced with using upnp and really wish I'd learned a bit about this before I'd purchased this unit (when looking for an integrated amp and walked out with this)   So if I got an NAS up and running using Asset or Minim they would provide an interface that I could access from my personal computer and could control what music to play on my unitilite?  That would be very cool and would make a big difference.

thanks again for the help

The app probably appears sluggish due to your network setup and/or UPnP server/computer. It's hard to say exactly what the problem is without knowing how you've got things set up. Get that sorted and you should be OK.

The Naim app is pretty good once you've got everything set up, but it runs on iOS or Android - there's no desktop version.

I disagree that you need a dedicated NAS to make it work smoothly. I use a UnitiLite with Minimserver as my UPnP server and it works great. I think changing the UPnP server out may speed things up, as my UnitiLite is super fast. You might make sure you only have one server running at a time (Windows native, Logitech Media Server, Minimserver).  I also use a Logitech Harmony remote and it works great... The UnitiLite is fully compatible with the Logitech Harmony remotes (see here: https://support.myharmony.com/en/compatibility ).

Bummer you're having hiccups, but I think the UnitiLite totally rules and sounds awesome, so hope you can work through them!
