I was wondering if anyone could help with a networking issue I have. I have a NDX (Wired) and a Muso (Wifi). The Muso works fine but I get stuttering/time outs with the NDX. I am really struggling to understand why. It is wired and I get the same issues with both Minimserver and Linn Kazoo. Seems to be worse on hi-res files. HD video streaming works fine on my MAC, Sky HD box etc
My setup (all gigabit wired) is:
- BT Infinity BB
- Huwai BT Modem (reflashed)
- Netgear Nighthawk R7000 Router (Wifi turned off as housed in a cabinet in garage which blocks the signal)
- Netgear Readynas V1
- Netgear Wifi Access Point (for house Wifi outside of Garage)
I used the Huwai modem/Netgear router as I had major issues with the BT Hub 5 blocking UPNP.
Any ideas welcome
Thanks

I suspect you have a data stream capacity problem
I don't agree your line about the BT HH5 blocking UPnP, it doesn't.
You have a strange network, I wonder what the Netgear R7000 Router is really doing & I suspect that is the problem. If you are just trying to use it as a switch I suggest you change it for a real switch, a Netgear GS105 or if it needs to look smarter a GS605.
The network needs to look like this .........
NAS

Switch - BT stuff + WiFi Access
|
NDX

Is it practical to try a different run of Ethernet cable between your router and NDX? And router and NAS? Your network sounds pretty simple so this would test if there is a cable fault.
Email to Naim support worthwhile also.

I agree with Mike: connect all your devices via Ethernet cable to an unmanaged switch. If necessary, 2 or more switches. Where wifi is needed, connect an Airport Express or similar to the switch.
Make sure you only have one device acting as DHCP server- probably best to use the BT HH for this.

You might also consider tearing everything down and building back up 1 piece at a time...assume for example you'd only use the NDX and one piece of network hardware. Simple is better with networking (as in most things). You have a lot of devices listed there.
You may find by doing this one piece is causing the problem...also nowadays you can get the modem/router/wifi in one piece. Try isolating the NDX.
