Help! SuperUniti won't see my Synology NAS any more!

Posted by: Goon525 on 14 May 2015

I know that my Synology NAS has done an update. It's perfectly visible wirelessly from my iMac - but my (Ethernet connected) SU just won't see it anymore. I have a feeling this happened once before - and the solution came quickly from the Synology experts on this forum - but I can't remember what the solution was last time, nor whether it will be the same now. I've tried the usual reboot of both SU and Synology - but that hasn't worked.

..........  and your media server (UNnP) is  ......  ???

Last time you needed to restart the server. I'm guessing that's it this time too. Post update sometimes packages need a manual restart.

It's whatever it is in the Synology - I haven't interfered much. It usually just works!

OK,  I will guess it's the Synology native Media Server - same as mine

Problem I can't understand is the vast bulk of this 5.2 update is nothing much at all related to the Media Server

However yesterday I had something similar after the update.

I just went thru a series of checks & resets, annoying as I have not needed to do it before with any update, but whatever I did worked. I did not reboot the NAS or the NDX,  but that might work.

However wot I did was ..............

In Syn Web Page – open Media Server > DMA Compatibility

Nothing is Checked,  but I fiddled with the Device List

Turn on NAS & US suggest its running on iRadio to ensure its on your LAN & make sure you have your iPad open on Naim app

Open Device List button

Uncheck “Enabled”

Reset – after thats done make sure you see all the players - & save

Check Enabled – that makes a check in all the device boxes

Save  - & thats it

That did it for me,  good luck

Thanks everyone for the usual quick help. Turns out I had to go into something called 'Package Centre' on my Synology browser, discover that Media Server needed updating, and do the update. And also that it seems to have its own 'Auto-Update' tick box, which I've now ticked so presumably this problem won't recur (doesn't it seem logical that this should happen automatically with a general firmware update?). Fingers firmly crossed. Hope this may help someone else!

Ahhh  -  I did that as well, & I don't think the auto-update worked as I had it already checked.

But I did have some discovery issues afterwards, I had a connection & it was fine,  but it would not discover NAS after it had hibernated;  that's when I went thru the list above.
