Help Wanted Please With Creating Playlists

Posted by: Rogert366 on 18 May 2015

I am a new Unitilite owner and user of the (iOS) App which strikes me as relatively unstable compared to many (but not all) other apps.  I had to re-install it today for reasons which I don't think are material.  I then discovered that I had lost the Playlists that I had created and used to see on the front page.  I had always suspected that I hadn't got these quite right because they didn't appear in the Smart Playlist folder.  So, my need for help is pretty obvious:

1  If the playlists had been in the Smart Playlist folder, would they have been stored on my Synology NAS drive and survived the re-installation?

2.  How do I create a Smart Playlist (whatever that might be) and get it into that folder?

3.  Do Naim produce any sort of manual explaining how to use the various features of such a complex app and, if not, would they PLEASE consider doing so?

Thanks in anticipation of much needed help.

Roger,

1. You have 2 entirely separate playlist systems, one on your NAS, and one on the Naim app. Your Synology playlists can be viewed and played, and are accessed as a folder in the UPnP menu, but they can't be edited in the app.

You can create playlists on the app too. Tap on the ... symbol next to a track or album and select 'add to playlist'. (Note that you can, in effect, import playlists by using this feature to add a NAS playlist to a Naim app playlist.) Naim app playlists are accessed by tapping the ... symbol in the top R corner of the screen.

2. 'Smart' playlists are a NAS feature, not a Naim feature. I've never used one, but I presume you access it via a computer that can see your NAS on your network?

3. There is no manual! It used to confuse the **** out of me, too - stick with it, and you'll get there in the end.
