Accessing Synology NAS after fimware update to 5.2-5565

As a follow up to Phil Harris's post, thank goodness for his intervention - the result of the latest update was driving me mad!  However, the critical update 1 that Synology mentioned to Phil did not work for me - made no difference at all to the problem - I had already applied it before I saw Phil's post.
