Goodbye

It appears that people can openly discuss their experiences with Chord STA and other third party accessories but my contributions seem to be censored and deleted.
I will now find another home to share my experiences. My user name will be the same.
Thank you to everyone who has been of assistance and I wish you all the best for the future.
I'm happy to contribute the post count. Bye Minh.
I thought I would leave the Naim engineers some food for thought before I make a new home for myself.
The Power-Line connector is supposed to be "decoupled and clamped by an ingenious die-cast component." I would like to point out the fundamental flaw with this ingenious design. The photo below shows the connector. The main housing remains stationary whilst the die-cast inner housing is supposedly decoupled. I will refer to the top edge as the superior border and the bottom edge as the inferior border. If you look at the photo carefully you will notice that the weight of the cable causes the die-cast inner housing to come in contact with the outer housing at the inferior border (there is a large gap at the superior border). The point of contact along the inferior border acts like a bridge and transmits vibration through the entire connector. Therefore this ingenious design does not decouple anything:
The same can be applied to the design of the Air-PLUG on the Hi-Line. Imagine all of the concentric rings forming a spine. The weight of the cable causes the spine to flex downwards. Now all of the individual concentric rings come into contact with each other along their inferior borders. From the photo below you should be able to see that there is a slight gap between each concentric ring along the superior border. If you study the inferior border you should notice that all of the vertebrae are fused together along their inferior borders. Vibration will transmit into the main housing along the inferior border. The patented Air-PLUG design has not decoupled anything:
The same design principle is used for Super Lumina.
Moderated Post: I have made a couple of small edits to this post to ensure it complies with forum rules.
Bye Minh.
I empathise with you about your well considered stuff getting 'moderated' (aka trashed), but hey that's life on a busty forum, it happens to the best of us (I know because it happened to me ). Give Richard a break, eh?
10 years is a long time to throw down the tubes, so let us know where we might find you after you're gone ? (e.g. the Scottish forum ?)

Minh, but what does it sound like. Who cres about the mumbo jumbo, SQ is what matters. I've never tried one but most agree it has a positive effect
I didn't think the plug designs intended to provide full mechanical decoupling (which would be very difficult to achieve given there has to be a physical connection, robustness / safety concerns and pricing) but provide a lossy coupling which is what they appear to be doing ?
I just love that that last post was moderated. I've also had posts moderated and I find the rules on posting links confusing and sometimes applied oddly but to be fair Naim are remarkably tolerant on what they allow to be posted on this forum. From the hundreds of Chord Hugo threads, to the thread that will not die that pops up every few weeks to question the implementation of Tidal, lack of memory in streamers and downright lack of business acumen within the company, as seen by us resident experts, they are all tolerated where many others would have long ago lost patience. I'd suggest having a few beers, listen to some music and come back when you feel refreshed.

It's a good upgrade from the lavender/grey interconnect. Naim should use the cable from the Hi-Line to construct an intermediate upgrade to Super Lumina and produce a range of SNAIC and DIN-XLR to complement the range. A good company should listen to its customers. I would suggest that they concentrate on the quality of the conductor as opposed to designing proprietary connectors (their philosophy revolves around mechanical damping). It is the conductor that ultimately carries the signal and if Naim were to use silver plated OCC copper the price of Super Lumina would probably double in price.

I am afraid my future contributions will not be welcome here because they will contravene forum rules. I am at the 500 level and my passion for music has inspired me to take a different approach to upgrades. Maybe one day I will travel up to Naim HQ and show them the fruits of my labour.
No dramas, cheerio.

Sonn we will have had more goodbyes than we had from Frank Sinatra!
Well i enjoy your posts Minh. There not just the bland i bought the next black box up the chain And it sounds great drivel. Its clear you put time and effort into finding what suites you. Not an easy task from my experience.

Thank you Foxman. It consumes a considerable amount of my time trying to articulate the essence of the subjective experience. I am grateful that there are people like you that take the time to read my posts.

Gosh, Wanderer, I've started doing that about 6 months ago... 'sonn' instead of 'soon'.
It's wierd, I put it down to the aging process, the brain not communicating with the keyboard properly. but it's comforting to find someone else doing it too
BTW, I like your comparison to Frank, very appropriate !

I received a post on my wall that nearly brought a tear to my eye. I have come to understand that there are members on this forum that will miss my departure. I feel inclined to stay and continue contributing for those that give up their time to read my posts. I will probably do as Lindsay suggests and take a break for a while. I will not discuss modifications on this forum.
Welcome back Minh. We missed you, twice.
You are not allowed a third time (three strikes and all that) so you are a Naim lifer now.
p.s. brilliant, brilliant cartoon choice Tony. Thanks for making me laugh

Don't worry Minh, George must hold the record for "I go, I come back!"
In future, if you deem one of my threads to be inappropriate, please contact me and provide a reason for its removal. It would have saved us all this drama.

i am pleased you have stopped flapping about and sound a lot calmer. Good for you!
may i humbly make a suggestion?
please arrange with your dealer to visit the Naim factory at some point. i would suggest 'soonish'...
this may turn out to be an eye, ear and mind opening experience for you.
whether you will be able to teach Naim engineers how to design cables that are, in your view, more mechanically sound is something that you can report back on once you have made the visit.
Can't wait...!
enjoy...

Another one of those 'here today, gone tomorrow' characters I predict.
I can imagine which action site the A5 will appear on, but I fear if my partner finds me watching it, I'll be scolded.
I don't post much nowadays, but when I do, I even amaze myself sometimes.
