An idea: why not open a special and separate forum for Statement and SuperLumina products/owners?

They could have an exclusive place for exclusive gear, where red drinks with small umbrellas are served.

The Hi-Fi corner has recently acquired some of the same boring, smiling, levigated uniformity that characterizes clubs and resorts for very rich people. Or else, why not confine us proletarians to the lower bridges, where we can have cheap beer and noisy gigs while we wait for the ship to sink? In merriment, I mean!

Just an idea.

And, I almost forgot, please include HUGO threads in it.

Now I couldn't possibly agree with that. Maybe its own entire forum, yes

Its own [Hugo] forum run by Chord?

But the Statement owners are still using Powerlines aren't they?

That inexorably links them to the rest of us down the chain.

Even my little system has two PLs

I'm very much up for the cheap beer and loud gigs but I'd like to keep my Hugo too if that's ok, after all we'll need something to argue about once the gig ends and the beer kicks in

Hi Max, I find it sometimes like watching top gear - I won't be buying a farrari but it's nice to look. When the top end guys post they don't gloat they want to share, so if you don't want to contribute tune off and chill out

cheers Pete

And here we have it: "When the top end guys post they don't gloat they want to share".

And: "if you don't want to contribute tune off and chill out"

Pete , you are the perfect naim customer. What exactly are the "top end guys" other than those who can afford the highest priced products. Does that mean they automatically acquire, instantly, some special knowledge of naim hi-fi? If what they say is of no relevance whatsoever to 99% of forum members who will never become "top end guys" why do they post except to say "look at me! Listen to me!"

I agree with Max, there should be a separate room for the top end guys to swap whatever insight they want about their expensive systems, homes, cars, mistresses, chronographs, whatever.

Cue sour grapes...

Interesting that there always seems to be some level of resentment here for folks that are successful, acquire some wealth, choose to spend on high end Naim gear, and then have the audacity, God forbid,to share their views on the Naim Forum. Well, where else should they talk about it? As a SN2-level Naimer, I value and enjoy reading findings from the top, especially since they generally seem to be some of the better written posts.

As far as a 'special and separate forum' for top-end Naim users, I'd tune in to read that one. Most contributors there would probably have made good choices in life, worked hard to achieve their wealth, and seem happy to share with all. As hi-fi enthusiasts, we ought to embrace such posts rather than chide them. Ultimately, each of us has worked hard to gain whatever Naim gear we own, and we'll all benefit from the trickle down of top end users. I find it reassuring that a company that produces $200k top end gear bothers with an entry level all-in-one fetching $1.5k.

OK, let’s bring in the caste system. We can divide this parish into six segments including “Gods”, so everybody will post here accordingly and know his/her place in the human race depending on the superiority or inferiority of their equipment.

Just another idea..

You work hard, make sacrifices, spend time away from your family, work unsociable hours, do all the shitty jobs that no one else wants because they are too hard or not prestigious enough, and because you are focused and determined and good at what you do you get rewarded.

And people object.

Well objectors, you know where you can stick your objections.

I didn't realise you were a police officer as well Harry. Hang on........well rewarded?.... sorry my mistake

Andy

Harry, note that the most vocal about high end spending are actually inverted snobs and one of them has Munchausens, if I'm not mistaken.

Great idea: HifiHeid. Let's segregate the peasants from the well-off!

I've just reviewed the first page of HiFi Corner and there are only two threads on Statement related products which kind of negates your argument Max. Given that these are new Naim products is it not surprising there are a few threads? If these threads offend you then don't bloody read them.

When I was 'stuck' with my 62/140 system in the '90s I'd drool over the six pack systems. I never thought I'd ever afford a system like that but circumstances change. I'm now in a position that I could afford a Statement if I wanted one but I don't want to go there, it doesn't appeal, but I'm happy for those that do and this is THE FORUM on which they can share their experience. In fact there is only one forum member with a Statement pre and no members so far with a full Statement system. Imagine the willy waving if someone on here went that far. You have a wonderful room as we've seen on System Pics. Just the sort of place to enjoy a red drink with a small umbrella.

Ah, I thought the umbrella was in the drink!  It all makes sense now, unless its a very big drink, for the elite only, that you sit it?
