synology Nas plays only one track at a time

Posted by: CSI_Basel on 05 June 2015

Hi

my Synology Nas 215j only plays the first track I have queued. After playing it stops and I have to manually force it to play the next track and again it stops when the track ends.

I have looked in the Media Server and also Audio Station but i don't see any options.

Can anyone with a Synology help?

Cheers in advance!!!!!

Just checking - which app/steaming device/remote are you using? Your profile doesn't say...

Basel and which Synology app are you using - Media Server or Audio Station?

I have the same NAS and use Minimserver in preference to the Synology software.

Might be worth trying it out - if you prefer it as several other members do, it'd make sorting out issues with the default server redundant. Either it fixes the problem itself, or you'll need to fix the same problem with the new server software.

I've got a Superuniti, Muso and Unitiserve.

Thanks Bart - I realised i was running both Media Server and Audio Station at the same time. Once i stopped the Audio Station and refreshed Media Server, the problem corrected itself!

looking forward to the unitiserve coming back from repair - its much more straightforward....

cheers everyone!

Cheers Basel.  I seem to recall making that mistake one time myself; I like to play with this stuff and at one time had both running just to see what they did.

Spoke too soon.

Playlist works as long as NStream is open on the ipad. As soon as i switch to another application on the ipad, the current track keeps playing but then the Superuniti stops.  This is strange.... Never had this issue with the Unitiserve!   Installed Minimserver and have the same issue!!

can anyone help?

I think I figured it out.

The Synology Nas is on an extended network not the main network. I bought an Extender a few months ago and both the Nas and the Muso are on this. Muso plays an entire playlist without stopping.

The Superuniti and Unitiserve are on the main network, but I didn't want the Nas in the living room as it is noisy.

The strange thing is that the Muso can access the Unitiserve with no issues even if the networks are not completely identical.....
