Mu-so-385A Firmware Updated

Posted by: andarkian on 09 June 2015

So far so good. Wait until I try the SPIDF interface with the TV before getting too excited. Still The White Buffalo is sounding nice.

Have to say it was a very painfree update - just took 5 mins via the ipad!

Anyone notice a difference?

Posted on: 09 June 2015 by Jan-Erik Nordoen

Updated here too via iPhone in 5 minutes with zero issues.

Well, I'm listening more since the update. Previously, the treble rolled-off sharply at 8 kHz, but the unit is sounding much more open now. I do believe they fixed it !

Thank you Naim,

Has there actually been any changes to the eq curve? The list of changes just seem to be fixes, no sound improvements. Not that I wanted any - it sounded awesome before, and it still does

Slightly confused. I think my MuSo updated OK, but I was using my iPhone remote from MuSo and when the update finished there was a message but it disappeared before I could read it (must have touched screen or something.)

What should the Streamer version be after ? Is 1.02.000 correct?

Posted on: 10 June 2015 by dave-mac

I think it was just the 'you're done' message, I wouldn't worry. Pretty bad UX there though Naim, with a little alert yellow triangle, makes you think something has gone wrong!

And yes, 1.02.000.

Thanks.

After the update, i still have the Deep sleep standby issue where i have to power down the unit to get it going again. Is there anyone else still having this problem ?

Posted on: 12 June 2015 by andarkian

Nope, and would like to thank Naim for fixing the SPDIF issue whereby the connection to the television dropped intermittently before resuming after about 30 seconds. This drove my wife incandescent if it happened during her nightly Emmerdale fix. She is now much more Muso friendly.

After the update Mu-So sounds more open,But some radio stations doesnt work anymore.

Any solution?

Cant say i've noticed any sound improvements.

However, it would have been nice to have had some form of basic tonal adjustment.

It would appear the problem only happens over a period of time. I put it into deep sleep for about 6 hours and it would not come back on, I had to do the power down and plug it back in again to get it going. However if I do it for only a few minutes it comes back on from the deep sleep, can anyone tell me if this happens to theirs ? Could still be a software issue.

Had the same problem but since the update it has been ok even when in deep sleep overnight.

Thanks for letting me know, it might be just mine then. Anybody else got the same problem?

OK - drop outs on *WHAT* exactly?

UPnP?

Internet Radio?

Spotify?

I understand that it is frustrating when your unit doesn't behave as it should but please understand that just because yours is 'dropping out' it doesn't mean that it is an issue that affects everyone (we have been testing this firmware update now for several months) and if there is an issue then we need to identify what it is ... if you can mail me directly at support@naimaudio.com then we can pick this up and find out what is going on but we will need to get more information than that to assist you.

Cheers

Phil

I will do that Phil

Honestly I have had the unit about 6 months and dropouts have been common on Spotify, radio and airplay from multiple computers.  Hooking muso to router with ethernet did not help.  Do not use uPnP

Have you contacted your dealer, mu-so support or Naim directly about it before? (So that I can try to tie up any previous correspondence you might have had...)

Unfortunately deep sleep issue wasn't resolved by firmware update for me too, never woke up from overnight deep sleep.

I did a Factory reset after the update and now it works perfect.

I've been in contact with Phil Harris but I don't think there's nothing they can do until the next firmware update.

I will like to retract my previous statement as my unit is now also suffering from this fault again.

I am amazed that it has taken seven months to release a fix for this and that doesn't work. I don't think it unreasonable to expect that Naim are able to supply a product that can be turned off and on without issue.

I guess I will just have to wait until next year and the next firmware update and see if that works.

The LED goes out when the mu-so goes into standby - hooray !!

Posted on: 16 June 2015 by Super

Naim will be looking into the deep sleep standby issue for those that still have the problem, so there might be a cure in the next firmware update.
