Should we forgive JC?

He'll need a stooge or two !

Sounds like May will still have some involvement

Posted on: 17 June 2015 by Tony2011

Yes, I heard that as well. Probably more likely a female like  Kid, who  is really into cars,  or Perry. Last episode of the current  ill fated series to be broadcast on the 28 June.

James May won't be co-hosting, this was said on Radio 1 this morning, but CE and JM are mates and JM will probably be involved in an advisory capacity. There was talk of Philip Glenister being a possible co-host as well.

Evans probably only agreed to host the show if the beeb agreed he could choose some of his cronies as co presenters.

I'd say Jay Kay is a contender.

Should we forgive him? No, he's a total pillock and an offensive gobshite. Good riddance to racist rubbish.

Chris Evans is an effing knob!

Sadly, I have to agree. He didn't need to be offensive. He was plenty good enough without it but he got lazy or always was and that just doesn't cut it anymore. People who find that humorous need to take a long look in the mirror.

That said, he did have his funny moments. Apart from his idiotic and unforgivable racist blackouts he probably was the best presenter for the show. There is just no way Evans can fill his shoes. I don't think anyone really can.

BUT a line had to be drawn and rightly so!

I always felt Top Gear (and specifically JC) had some good ideas and light hearted moments, but never knew where the line was; or perhaps more often they knew where the line was but crossed it for shock value!

JK? Now, that would be suicidal! Not even Evans is that stoooopid.

JK? Talking of complete bell ends.

Obviously you think Jay Kay’s in with a chance.

Surely being a bell end is a prerequisite for getting the job. That’s certainly been the case for the last decade.

I am old enough to remember when the show was all about the cars, not the presenters. Now it is just an "entertainment" programme of very little practical use.

Posted on: 18 June 2015 by Steve J

He's now asking members of the public to apply for co-host and send videos in. I feel they should bury the name Top Gear as it's looking like it'll be a completely different programme from now on.

There's rumour Clarkson and Co will have a new show on a different channel.

It's going to be diffilcut to beat that trio!

I sincerely hope so because no matter how good the replacement team is it won't be Top Gear

Clarkson and Company are going to Netflix.

Now you're talking, William Woollard in a tweed sports coat, and petrol injection on the new Triumph....

And now they're talking about 'open auditions'.  Anyone sending in a clip of themselves?

Seems legit …….

I'm quite surprised to see Chris Evans has chosen to do this.  The reality is that if the others get a rival show off the ground on another channel then Evans will have his work cut out to establish the show and it will end up being a poor relation like Fifth gear is.

I'm not a fan of Evans at all.  Apart from the fact I find him tedious, loud and lacking in charisma I ended up at Goodwood with him a couple of years back in a VIP enclosure and he was very stand-off ish towards people in there and rather aloof and full of himself.

Clarkson remains in my view  one of the finest broadcasters in the country, witty, contentious, inspired and insightful.  He has a gift for understanding and communicating the essence and soul of cars which nobody else can match.  I don't particularly want Top Gear to tell me if there's more room in the back of a Mondeo or an Audi A4, I want them to tell me what it feels like to drive or experience a particular car.

One final thought - the essence of Top Gear was always that it was fronted by public school 'rugger bugger' types and I would have said someone like James Martin would have fitted this mould rather better.

This is disappointing.  I know you can't excuse Jeremy's behavior, but I did like him on the show.  Sorry to see they aren't keeping James May.

It will be interesting if the former trio go onto Netflix.

I don't know if anyone here cares for Jerry Seinfeld, but I find these segments entertaining in a different way than TG.   http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/

Fellow car enthusiast (of Jerry, not me),  Jay Leno also has a series on You Tube.  http://www.nbc.com/jay-lenos-garage   He was more impressed w/ the Tesla.
