Minimstreamer - DSD?

Posted by: MartinKocurek on 19 June 2015

Hi, I found this in Minimstreamer user guide:

DSD audio files in DSF format. Valid for local files served by MinimServer (.dsf) only. The output type must be
dopwav
. The
stream.converter
property isn't required.

[NEW] If you're using FFmpeg 2.3 or later as the stream converter (FFmpeg 2.0.2 or later in Synology DSM), you can convert .dsf files to native PCM by specifying an output type of
wav
,
wav16
,
wav24
,
L16
or
L24
. The default output sample rate is 352800 and the default output sample bit depth is 32. You can override these default values by specifying an explicit sample rate and/or sample bit depth in the output type.

I used setting : dsf:dopwav but DSD is not played by my NDX. Do I do something wrong? Is it even possible to play .dsf with combination of NDX,NAS Synology 212j, Minimserver, Minimstreamer?

I think the NDX is not ready for DSD (yet).

NDX DSD playback should be with us shortly

DoP is a way encapsulating DSD bit streams chunked up into 24 bit sample words - its still DSD

DoPWAV - is sending DSD in a WAV PCM file structure... you still need DSD capability to decode it

Simon, thank you for explanation, I was wondering if it would be so "easy" to play DSD.

Lets wait few days (weeks?) more for new FW.
