Father's Day
Posted by: Dungassin on 20 June 2015
Well, it's that time of year again. Every year I tell my daughters that Father's Day is an invention of the greetings card industry, and on no account are they to send me a card. Yet again, my request was ignored and 2 cards arrived today.
Means that, card industry politics aside, you were a good parent, they love you, and they appreciate you. Worry about something else. You'll survive.
My kids invited themselves around for tomorrow. Dad's cooking of course.
Seriously though it will be a nice family get together with my stepdaughter and grandchildren coming as well.
My youngest son loves father's day, and mother's day for that matter, and takes it very seriously. I love it because it gives me chance to have a nice day with him
My daughter graduated from college last weekend and is spending this weekend backpacking with friends in the North Cascades (the weather is glorious and she's borrowing half of Dad's gear). My son is attending a national leadership conference for his college fraternity in Washington DC. How could any father could ask his children to miss such events for a "Hallmark Holiday"? We'll all get together next weekend just the same. Like Steve, dad will be cooking of course.
I got the book "Extremely Embarrassing Dad Jokes" from the daughters.......I wonder what they are trying to tell me, hmmm?
I got the flu'. Bah.

Commiserations Graeme. I'm only just feeling better three weeks after having it.
Get well soon.

Cheers Steve.

Not complaining about being appreciated, just the fact that they have succumbed to the card industries blandishments.
Our youngest and her 3 children spent the day with us yesterday while son-in-law was doing the Hadrian's Wall run. Got LOTS of affection from the youngest (18/12 girl) who seems to really love me!

We had a pleasant lunch, I cooked a large paella and my daughter baked a delicious apricot cake for dessert. They've all gone home now.
Slaving over the paella.
Looking cool ....
I was feeling anything but cool Graham.
Cheers.
Family meal out and got, cards even one from my unborn grandchild(how clever), plus Toblerone and Turkish Delight.
you were a good parent,
He may have been a good parent, but he is not The World's Greatest Father. I took that title many years ago, I have a mug to prove it. I've also already locked up The World's Greatest Husband with a trophy to show.
Sorry guys.
My son and I had a great Fathers Day. We got a new TV, we got the firmware upgrade completed on the Muso, we restored Spotify streaming which had gone on the blink for some reason, we got the optical connection working at last, and I watched my first Netflix movie, Django Unchained. The Muso rocks with the optical setup! My son was responsible for thought leadership and making it happen with his Mom and with the Comcast remote. I paid of course, but it was a bargain at the price.

Seriously my oldest son got me some union rings, and a box of everlasting gobstopper. My youngest got me a Daft Punk 2-vinyl set, and Kung-Fu Panda 2.
I got me the RP3, and the Daft Punk sounded holographic...

Something is wrong here, you are cooking on Father's Day ? Or is it a dish the others otherwise wouldn't eat .....
Exactly, but I don't mind.
