And what a 5 years they were.

Any information about mastering?

There have been some tragic masterings done of these albums at the turn of the millennium.

Very interesting, but as SJB says, the 1999 remasters were poor enough to make me cautious.

It would appear the vinyl is all analogue. All the CDs except Ziggy and Aladdin Sane will be new 2015 remasters.

The label has confirmed to SDE that as far as the vinyl is concerned “everything is remastered from analogue except for a couple of tracks on Re:Call where we had no analogue source available.”

Definitely interested in all Analogue vinyl but what a price for the 5 LP box set at £199.99 from a certain on line site I have seen!

Posted on: 26 June 2015 by Steve J

The RRP is a mind boggling £299 for the 13 album box set so £199 isn't a bad price, although still very expensive for what it is. It's £249 on What Records.

I have all the albums anyway. The recall album would be of interest but only if it is available individually.

Be interesting to see what sound quality is like as Bowie's catalogue deserves AAA treatment.

Just put my pre-order in with Amazon uk for £199.99

Due for release September 25th.

Seems a lot time away yet,

no doubt we'll get an honest review of the masterings before paying up -

and give us a chance to buy or cancel.

I'll save my money, maybe put it toward a cable that will enhance all albums?

I've pre-ordered this on vinyl as well. I have all of the LPs but a couple of them are a bit battered, or dodgy masterings. It'll be good to have an all-AAA set. Price has already gone down from £299 to £199, so I have high hopes that it'll come down further. I know I might have set myself up for a fall/disappointment, but this has got me as excited as the Beatles mono set last year...

Although I posted this thread for info I won't be buying it myself as I have good quality first presses, with the exception of the first two LPs which are second presses. If I didn't have these I would go for it as the extras, fully available with vinyl that makes a change, look good.

I've been misled by the "sourced from the original analogue tapes" line before, so I'd like something a bit more definitive before shelling out such a large sum.  After all, given that these albums were originally recorded in analogue, can it not be said that all subsequent editions, including the CDs, are "sourced from the original analogue tapes"? If someone can confirm that the production of these has been all analogue from the tape to the vinyl cutting (ie. AAA) then I might be willing.

I seem to recall that Jimmy Page was going around saying that the latest Led Zep vinyls were sourced from the original analogue tapes.

"Sourced from the original analogue tapes" is about as definitive as "Brewed with pure mountain spring water". I've got pure mountain spring water flowing out the taps in my house, literally I do. Just that it's been first collected in a reservoir, sent through a pipeline, treated at a facility, then put back into a pipe to my neighborhood.

$249.98
Amazon.com, about  GBP 160?
Posted on: 06 July 2015 by Guy007

Amazon Canada only have the CD version at $187, so 100 GBP.

All prices on CA, US and UK on Camel are constant, apart from the UK Vinyl which dropped GBP15 today.
