Why do people say "goodbye" to the Naim forums?

It's like the Naim forums are a person or something...

Not sure myself, but there ought to be a flurry of activity here from folks who have done so.

There may be those that do it out of genuine respect for the acquaintances they have built online over the years, but I suspect many do it as a way of making a statement and drawing attention to their departure as a way of justifying their decision... or perhaps some simply drawing attention to themselves for what ever reason.

........ or perhaps to seek to be persuaded to stay?

Great thread. I've always wondered too. I suspect there's a PhD going begging here although I leave it to others to come up with a title....

The impact of past contributions on the exit strategy chosen by disenchanted forum members.

Now, who will give me a research grant?

You got 'impact' in there HH so I can see you are on message with the current direction of travel...but what about 'multi', 'inter', or even 'trans' 'disciplinarity'?

Oh, and you missed the obvious 'effects on global warming' or even 'international security'...No grant for you I'm afraid.

Graeme, 'multi' is so passé now, the current word in vogue I see instead is 'omni' . Oh yes see if you can the word 'democratisation' in as well that seems to help at the moment. (follow on from self service and social media behaviours)

Well I think that like many other things, Hi-Fi brand identity is inside.  But, in reality it manifests itself externally.  People perhaps feel guilty, or judged by others if they identify with a brand other than their close friends or parents of course.

Breaking out from a hi-fi brand identity can be difficulty, especially if someone close to you "outs" you and forces you to disclose your true brand identity.

Some are trans-branded and what voice do they have in the matter?

Omni presents...the kind I like best!

Seriously 'omnidisciplinarity'??...I'll keep my eyes peeled for that useage!

I'd like to see a psycho-social in there, as a minimum.
