The emphasis on big old British speakers surprised me, when I listened again just now. I suppose I just take the piece at face value as part of the Beeb's way of celebrating fifty years of the World at One with a very personal portrait by one of its celeb DJs. And yet forty of those fifty years have coincided with Naim's existence, as well as Linn, Rega, Meridian etc. Oh well!
