The Weeknd - House Of Balloons

Just doing my own bit of viral marketing...

Definitely not my usual kind of thing at all, but the mood created by these songs is pretty special, and summed up well by the (pretentious) arty snaps from their website. The enigmatic 20-year old behind all this, the ridiculously talented Abel Tesfaye, is going to be huge.

Though there's moments here that wouldn't be out of place on a good Massive Attack record (remember those?) these uncompromising songs about love are from probably the forum's least favourite genre, so I'm not expecting (m)any replies to this post. Still, I've been playing this all weeknd.

One of the better reviews I've read here.

Oh, and here's a brilliant cover of "Wicked Games" from House Of Balloons, that showed up on The Weeknd's tumblr thing this week...

^ Canada's Béatrice Martin, aka Cœur de Pirate. Excellent, or what?

Chief,

I like that.

She does use a lot of F's and mother F's though.

Yep, Béatrice Martin is a new name to me, though she's fairly well-known in France and has won a couple of awards there, apparently.

The f-bombs certainly seem a little incongruous in the above version,.and make more sense in the context of the original, especially given the subject matter and intense feel of the whole album.

I read somewhere a while ago that The Weeknd have signed to Drake's record label*, so instead of giving their best songs away, we might have to pay for them before long.

* Not Simon Drake's record label. : )

Not Simons lable ?They might get some good bands now.

I am and have always been lesbian, love the fit birds not the JCB drivers.

When i come back knowing my luck,I will be a fly and end up seeing my bum go through my head on a BMW or Merc windscreen. or on a hook so a Roach or Rudd or Tench can eat me.
