Uniti Serve software update

Posted by: PBenny1066 on 11 April 2011

I just noticed that there is a new software update for Naim servers, including U/S.  However, the post on this forum says that the new update only works with the latest version of the desktop client.

My question is - are there plans to release a version of DTC running on Mac ?  Not a new question on this forum I know.  I just find it unacceptable that for a kit of Naim's calibre, a Mac version is not available.  I know Bootcamp is an option, but I have no intention of installing bootcamp just to talk to my Uniteserve.

I have to agree with you there. The browser interface needs some work as well.

IIRC somewhere on this forum it was mentioned that Naim has no short term plans for updating the DTC...

NAIM - is anybody in there  ?

Doers this mean because I run a Mac, I can't even make use of the software updates for U/S ?

You can update the software on your UnitiServe and if you are running the earlier version of DTC (which you aren't for the reasons that you have already stated) then you would need to update that too.

Help! I downloaded the SP2 ISO from the Naim website and burned the ISO to CD-R. My U-Serve 1TB does not do anything with it.  I see from the ISO image that it contains upgrade folders for the HDX, etc. as well as the U-Serve.

Anyone have the instructions for preparing the upgrade CD specifically for the U-Serve? The PDF supplied with the download very helpfully only covers upgrading the HDX....

I seem to be caught in NAS hell...not being initially aware that it was vital for the NAS to have a static IP, I ran into the dreaded can't find NAS problem after a few months of flawless performance from the U-Serve.  Now, after setting the NAS to fixed IP, the U_Serve claims there is an IP conflict.

I sure hope the firmware upgrade will help me "reset" the U-Serve and fix the NAS problem.

Incidentally, I use a Mac and run Win XP with the Fusion emulator - works perfectly fine.

Many thanks,

Surya

The CD you have burned is for *ALL* the Naim Music Servers - there is no UnitiServe specific version.

If the disc you have written is not recognised by the UnitiServe when it is inserted into the unit then please try writing the disc at a lower speed or - if you are using a slimline "laptop style" drive - try using a normal style CD writer, laptop writers do generally tend to create discs that aren't as compatible as they could be.

Thanks I will try to do so...the DTC ripping monitor identifies the disc as a CD-R...but no activity.  BTW, any suggestions in getting around the IP conflict? The Serve no longer shows any network shares - just hangs on busy. When I manually add the NAS, I get the IP conflict message from the DTC.  Thanks, Surya

Exactly what "IP Conflict" message are you getting and where are you getting it? If you have things set correctly then you should not be getting any such messages.

I can take a look at your system remotely if you wish - please drop me an email at phil.harris@naimnet.com and we can arrange for me to do that.
