UnitiServer SSD can't replay my downloads from Naim Store

I would like to  download a Hig res CD from Naim store to my unitiserver SSD (NAS), how should I download it,  directly to the MQ folder on the NAS or ???

On the Naim interface, which is displayed on my iMac, the new share it is listed as a ' network Share'. Not a music store. There is only one 'music store' listed, called Multimedia, and that is where the ripped CDs go.

On the right of 'Finder', on the iMac is the nssrv**** and the NAS. If I click on the NAS, I am presented with the new share which I made, (Hi ResMusic) but when I open that share in order to paste the music file, I am presented with those 3 folders, HQ LQ and MQ. ?????

Further....

I started again. I deleted the 'Hi Res music' share from the NAS and the Serve.

I created a new share on the NAS calling it 'My Music' . I then copied one WAV file into it with no probs.

Opened up the Naim interface, and hey presto the 'My Music' share is shown. Brilliant! However, when I searched for the music that I had copied on to the share, no music was found?? The share was empty?

Wav files do not carry any meta data, so the serve cannot see the file, rip your files to FLAC.

WAV files are what are ripped by the Unitiserve. The files that I am trying to add are downloads, both WAV and FLAC, from a hi res music store, which are stored on my iMac.

The wavs you downloaded will have come with a 'side car' of information, the serve cannot read this.

One more time with feeling:

1. You have set up a new share called music on your NAS.

2. Download suitable files with metadata (tags)

3. Put them in the new share you called music.

4. The serve will automatically find them.

If it has not then there is no tags, if you are getting from a legitimate source such as hdtracks then they are perfectly tagged in my experience, if your sources are elsewhere then all bets are off.

With flacs you can edit the tags using a suitable programme. WAVs a far more difficult to achieve successfully, for the best bet let your serve rip wav, but everything else use FLAC.

I'll try what you say. Yes, I downloaded some from HD Tracks! Hotel California (Eagles) and Band On The Run (Paul McCartney). Both WAV. I also downloaded All things Must Pass, by George Harrison. This was in FLAC with a free version in MP3. Funny thing is, none of the FLAC or WAV files showed artwork, only the crummy MP3 files did!!

For artwork on your nas, find the artwork on google in jpg 300x300 is fine.

Save to your album folder after renaming to folder.jpg.
