nSub set-up and connection

Having some problems; I expected my new (s/h) nSUB to be subtle but not quite this silent!

System is UnitiQute/nSat/nSub.

I have the Qute set to loudspeakers 'small'. I have two short pieces of ordinary double wire electrical cable connecting the loudpseaker terminals of the Qute to those of the nSub, soldered as a 'piggy-back' to the A5 as it leaves the Qute. The sub 'pops' when powered up so I'm assuming it is working fine and the display is on, the settings are at factory default but-no sound. The Mute is not activated!

I have tried switching the input from AV to aux or amp but that does not work either.

What have I done wrong?

Bruce, I'm pretty sure that when running this way - i.e. taking reference signal from the speaker terminals - you will have to run with main speakers set to large. I could be wrong though...  Have you tried running the sub from the pre-outs?  If so, is all working well this way?

'Large' makes no difference.

How would I run the sub from the pre-out? What cable would I use?

Progress-just used a suitable cable (after switching on my brain) from the pre-out to the line-in and it is working now. I guess that means the fault might be my soldering-or perhaps the cables themselves i used.

Anyway, it works for now

Bruce, did you have the sub on the correct input for the high level?

Which is?

However I did try them all as mentioned!

I am not at home but I am pretty certain I use Aux for the Pre-out, therefore Amp is presumably for speaker ouput.

Incidentally I believe that for speaker input the preferred connection is at the speaker end.

Cheers Gerry.

I actually tried both ends of the speaker cables-although I suspect it should work from either. I suspect my soldering or the cable I used was the fault. I'm happy using the pre-out for now. This was actually a temporary setup whilst I'm re-decorating to ensure the nSub worked OK. I'll do a rather better and more careful job when ready to install finally.

Gerry has it correct - Aux = pre-out and Amp = hi-level speaker out.
