HELP New HDX problem!
Posted by: Jason on 14 April 2011
Hi,
Bit the bullit today and bought an HDX, which seems to do all I need.
However, Having got it home and setup, I can't get it to play anything.
I've ripped a couple of discs and they show in the menus but when I select the album track to play, the screen just says "loading" for a couple of seconds, then displays a picture of a CD with the word loading and about ten seconds later it returns to the home menu page and plays nothing. When I go to the "Now playing" option it just states "Nothing selected".
Anyone have any ideas??
Jason, I am glad that you purchased the HDX. I thought it was just the right choice for you!
Don't rush your HDX. It is a very tender personality. Maybe it just needs some time to get used used to the new environment. Turn it off as described. Let it rest the night over, and I am pretty sure you will have no problems tomorrow.
Further to above this is not the ssd but the twin 500gb model with latest software onboard.
Thanks.
Aysil,
That was quick, thanks.
Yes you may be right, but it's just a little strange. I have shut it down once, waited a minute and fired up again, but no change.
It is ripping files no problem, just won't play anything on HDD or won't play a CD direct in the draw when I select that option either. Just a bit worrying thats all.
Seriously, restart it and it will probably be fine.
That's exactly the version I also have.
Such things happen with computer based devices. Don't panic.
I was able to activate the screen of my NDX only on the second day and after a few restarts.

Are you kidding!.
Sounds like either a system setup problem or firm/hardware problem.
Jason, if you can't resolve the problem get your dealer to set it up for you. That's part of the Naim service.

Graham
Ok Guys, thanks for the re-assurance. I'll close it down and try again later, then shut down overnight again if no joy.
If I still have no joy in the morning, I'll contact my dealer.
Are you shutting down as described in the manual?
I remember having a similar issue on the first day of HDX. I don't remember what it was. Never happened again.

Yes, shutdown button at front for one second first. Goes into shutdown mode with standby light on. Then power off switch on rear, before firing up again. Just trying it for the second time. Left it off longer this time.
Panic over! As per the advice given, a slightly longer shutdown period and abracadabra...we're in.
Thanks guys, seems the new arrival just needed a moment to settle in and has now found its feet. Working perfectly now and just loading DTC for a play with that.
Nice to be able to call on others for a bit of help and re-assurance at times like that!
Jason, glad to here all's well.
Hi Jason,
Congratulations! Although the DTC works very well (in fact, it's the only way to add/modify cover art) I found it more comfortable to use the web interface: if you go to system setup > system status you can find the neccessary IP Adress which you can type in your browser. Or go for the iPad/iPod and the (now free) app for even more fun!
Regards,
Michel
Thanks all. Klout, I'll give that a try. Many thanks.
Quite possible. From what Aysil mentioned earlier, he has the same version and seems to recall something similar too, so this would make sense.
Have now tried the web interface and that works great too. This really is a great piece of equipment and very clever interface/control etc. Very impressed. Had a play with the ipad interface earlier at the dealers too and thats a really clever and tactile piece of work, well worked out from what I could see.
Have to say a thank you to EJ for his earlier thread reviewing his findings on his recently aquired HDX too, that helped spur on my visit to the dealers today and make the decision. Keeping my CDX2 for the moment, will see how things go and how much use it gets.
Incidentally, looks like the internet radio software for the HDX should be available around June time this year, all being well, so watch this space.
My dealer stated that the software update to allow HDX to "stream?" internet radio will be out around June this year.
Hope it will be in June indeed. However, if I look at previous updates, it could also be in November...
Regards,
Michel
Well, quite possibly. We'll all see soon enough. Just glad it is happening, a good plus point and was another good reason for me to go for the HDX...... which I hasten to add is working flawlessly now after the initial incident!
