Maverick Sabre

Anyone else see Maverick Sabre on Jools Holland last night? I did not expect that!!!

For anyone who doesn't know of him he's a 20 year old London Irish lad who looks a bit like the chav son of Al Murray. As he stepped up to the mic I thought "here we go, yet another bland indie rock wannabe muscling in on Jools's penchent for variety for his 15 minutes of fame". Then he started singing.

I honestly found it spellbinding. His voice seemed to be an effortlessly quirky falsetto version of Bob Marley/Fine Young Cannibals/any number of 50s soul/blues singers. Such a strong voice. This guy has to be going places. I checked Amazon and there's no debut album until November. One for the future I reckon...... just as I was thinking music had died.
