Yes indeed Gary - I love it. What do you make of the recording/mastering quality? I think it's pants. Lifeless, congested mp3 fodder. Such a shame.

Agreed John, was tempted to buy the vinyl but fear it may be no better..... Such a shame when musicians don't get involved or don't are how the final product sounds.

The Ghosts of Pripyat was a good recommendation, thanks.  Checked it out on Spotify, then bought the CD.

Can't say whether it's overly compressed, but enjoying it.  Try the live version for different sound/dynamics though (again on Spotify - yes I realise that is a lossy, compressed MP3 format, but, hey, it's a place to start).

SR is performing it live in November in Milton Keynes.

I listened to this on YouTube via my iPhone and Bose headphones and decided to pre-order the double vinyl from Burning Shed. It comes with the CD as well, so I'll be able to do some comparative listening. It's the sort of music which deserves good mastering. It was recorded locally at Real World so I am hoping for good things despite the findings above.

Keep us posted Clive, it's such a lovely piece I would not hesitate buying the vinyl if is sounds good

Why don't you download the FLAC 24/96 version? Do a search - £6+

My vinyl copy arrived yesterday. It's on two 180g LPs, which play at 45rpm. I agree the mastering is a bit two-dimensional, but it is an absolutely stunning album!

Havent yet tried the CD (although I have ripped it to the NS01), but that will be good for the convenience it offers.
