Naim control app and BubbleUPnP lose contact with UQ2

Posted by: Jota on 06 July 2015

Hi.

I'm having a problem that is increasing in occurrence lately whereby the app can't connect with the UQ2.  It can either be a complete disconnect where it can't see the UQ2 at all or a partial one where I can select radio stations I've saved but not browse through all radio stations.

Sometimes I can browse radio stations but it can't find my server (either Minimserver or DiskStation).

Switching the UQ2 off for 20 seconds then back on again seems to sort it out for a while but then inevitably it fails to connect again.

It's the same story with the app on the Nexus 9 and with BubbleUPnP.

The UQ2 is ethernet connected to a Netgear switch, just like most of the rest of my gear.

Nothing else on my network including 3 tablets, 1 smart phone, 2 TV's, 2 PS4's, 1 BluRay player, 2 PC's a Synology NAS and a Synology expansion has any problems connectivity wise.

Jota glad you are now sorted, you should find the Apple Airport express should give reliable operation for discovery protocols used by Bonjour and UPnP.

Yes it is always best to keep current with Naim firmware.

A rather red faced update is in order.  There was nothing wrong with the NAP 100.  Well, not if you don't count having a complete idiot as an owner!

I had plugged the phono into the inputs instead of the outputs on the UQ2 but in my admittedly feeble defence I was putting it all back together by feel as the leads don't stretch to installing with the units pulled out.

Big thanks to official dealer Robert Ritchie in Montrose for going through a full test procedure before pointing this out as gently as is humanely possible.

Well it's all up and running and all is good.

Don't worry about it ... I guess I should have asked whether you'd plugged it into the right sockets too but that usually causes offence.
