I can't watch the interview in the US. I got the premise of your topic though and did some googling. The book is positively reviewed by professional critics overall, but read the 3-star reviews of us commoners on US Amazon and some holes appear in the author's credibility regarding citation of sources and third party statements he used in a rather in absentia manner.

Not having delved further into the book itself, I've always thought the music industry shot itself in the foot by not including some sort of copy protection in digital music. Maybe the artists are the ones that have primarily suffered due to that decision, but I suspect that more music is pirated by the MP3 generation than actually bought, so the industry has suffered as well.
