VERY simple fix to Streaming Service integration
Posted by: Rowegroup on 20 July 2015
Sorry if this has already been posted, but if you want instant integration of TIDAL, QoBuz, Dropbox, GooglePlay into your NAIM DLNA streamer do the following.
1. Buy a really cheap Android tablet - I got an ASUS from PC World for £50.
2. Install Bubble UPNP app
3. Select your Naim streamer as the renderer in settings Local Renderer
4. Select your NAS etc as the library
5. In Settings under Local Media Server, Cloud Content - select each service you want , enable it and provide your login credentials - also specify the audio quality required
6. Restart the app
7. In the main screen under library you select Cloud and the services you have enabled will be visible
Simples
Lots of other settings to play with but this is a great app!

What about SQ ? Does the tablet need to stay on the whole time ? Does the stream come through the tablet ?
Thanks for your appreciated answers
The stream comes via your tablet and sq is compromised compared to local streaming direct via your Naiim device - having said that its better than you currently have if you are streaming, for example, Qobuz
It is streamed from the tablet, but you have some control of output quality in Bubble - i.e. for Tidal HIFI (44.1/16) can be specified. It's not perfect, but very workable and the the Bubble player app is very good for controlling music from a server.
Just to add that it is also possible to add Radio streams into Bubble very simply using XiiaLive.

The SQ is not compromised at all. Depending on the nature of the the stream (Qobuz, TIDAL, Google Music, ...) your Naim either streams directly from the cloud's provider servers, or streams the exact same stream transparently proxied by BubbleUPnP. In both cases, the audio data played by your Naim is exactly the same. For Qobuz and TIDAL, it is direct streaming unless proxying is specifically forced in Settings > Local Media Server.
PS: I'm the developer.
There is not much downside I can see other than one must use Android, however the device I bought was dead cheap and more than adequate.
The app itself is great and far superior to any other generic UPnP control I have tried. With my DLNA server (Synology using Media Centre) I have limited search capability, but I think other DLNA servers may offer better functionality in this area.
This is different to the Sonos solution which takes the network stream and creates an SPDIF output for the DAC to process. In this Bubble solution, the streamed music file is directed to the rendering device and converted / played by whatever is receiving the file be it a Naim streamer or something else.
There is also the advantage of a single controller to stream from the cloud and your local library and the also the use of a single input on the renderer (streamer). With Sonos you would need to flick between inputs and use separate controllers for 'cloud' services (TIDAL etc) vs local NAS.
It's dead easy to try so nothing much to loose - even the app is free to test (£3 for the licensed version).
Yep, if you have an android phone it works on that as well, you don't need to get a tablet.......
Tah dah

If you are the developer. When there will be an app for iOS?
Alternatively, if Naim could implement this functionality without bubbleguuum's help, perhaps it could be introduced to the Naim app as an interim measure until their preferred solution is ready.
Doesn't interest me as I don't use Qobuz/Tidal streaming, but it's abundantly clear that it's important to some members.
I would like the hardware key volume control, though.
It doesn't sound like that is needed. If Bubble running on a device on the home network is "seen" as a UPnP server, then I'm not sure what else is needed.
Dave - Bubble has an option to enable hardware volume control using the tablet controls
Edit - Rowegroup, yeah, and very nice it is too. I'd just like the Naim app to be able to do the same thing.
Doe een micro SD kaart in je Android tablet. Ik heb 128 GB. Opslag 300 cd, FLAC.
Deze micro SD kaart is je NAS. Is in het menu te voorzien van een naam.
Geen losse NAS nodig.
Werkt goed.
I think there may be a problem with your spell checker?

It's all Dutch to me.
Just to add that if you are a Synology NAS user I have just installed Minim Server and it works really well with Bubble - you get full server search functionality from the Bubble App and cover art / thumbnails load way more quickly that the standard Synology Media Server.
Early days - but looking good so far!
