Firmware update to version 4 - stopped mid-update

Posted by: ricsimas on 26 July 2015

Well, I started doing the update today and it looked all fine and dandy until it got to (what I assume is) the last bit, after the two DSP stages. It displays streamer update - please wait on the streamer, but the update software can no longer find it. It spent a long time "verifying streamer is in upload state" (or something to that effect) and then it gave a message saying it couldn't find the IP address of the device.

Now it asks me for an IP, but there isn't one - I've always left it set to the same IP and it doesn't show up as a client in my router. It's as if the device isn't on the network anymore.

Nice, isn't it? It did something similar the last time I updated it, but I don't remember what I did to make it right.

It is quite a cumbersome process anyway...

Oh, this is on an ND5 XS, BTW.

Hah! Got it - it's working now. One just has to muster the courage to reboot a streamer while it's showing please wait on the screen!

Lucky you. My NDX stalled and subsequently bricked!

Sorry to hear that!

I'm still amazed that a device that is connected to the Internet cannot update itself...

Me too, seems very archaic to me.

Hey guys,  try reading the post thread on this from a week or so back,  its a bit heavy but explains why it is the way it is.

Its done over wires for very good reasons

It also includes a commitment to look at better ways for future products.
