Unitiqute 2 uPNP with mac

Posted by: Andy Barratt on 27 July 2015

Hi -

I just ordered a Unitiqute 2 - and currently have all my digital music on my mac in iTunes, encoded as Apple Lossless.

How will I go about getting my UQ2 to see the files?

Thanks!

Hi Andy,

Are you looking to make a direct connection from the Mac to the Qute, and use the Mac to control playback, or do you want a networked solution and to use the Naim App to control playback.

If the later, you need to be running a UPnP server.  You might want to run one on your Mac (which may have issues, as if the Mac goes to sleep the server will not work), or on a dedicated NAS that runs a UPnP server.

There are literally thousands of posts here on the forum about this.  And many people who use these same setups.

Thanks for the replies.

Bart - for now I think I'll have to look into putting a UPnP client on my mac - thanks

Wat - no good i'm afraid, my mac is in another room.

Try Minimserver on your Mac.  Many people here use that (although mostly on a nas, rather than a Mac).  Also try Asset on the Mac.  These are probably the two "best" solutions.

Thanks - Minimserver seems to be doing the trick!
