Football season 2015/16

Well the new season beckons, though I see some unfortunate clubs have been playing Europa League qualifiers already (no summer hols for the Hammers). So I thought I’d kick off (pun intended) with some predictions.
In the PL, as I did last season, I’m going to tip Chelsea to win the title. Mourinho has freshened his squad, it’s a bit younger and I suspect he has retained the all-important hunger. I also won’t be surprised if Mourinho gets Falcoa to fire in the way we know he can.
Man City/Man U and Arsenal to fight out the next three places. I further predict mid-table mediocrity to Liverpool (if so, Rodgers may not survive past Xmas), while Palace enjoy a season in the top half.
At the bottom, I hope Bournemouth survive while my head says not but whatever happens I hope the club and their fans have a thoroughly enjoyable season. I think Watford will drop with the other relegation place being between Leicester, Norwich and Villa.
I think the Championship is very hard to call. If QPR retain Charlie Austin I can see them bouncing back. I don’t see Burnley doing so. Nor Hull. Ipswich might make it this time.
Of course I’m hoping my lot will get promoted out of League Two under our new manager Paul Cook but I’ve been following them for long enough to know that disappointment is very possible again.

Even as a City supporter, although disappointed with the result today, I think it's refreshing for a club like Leicester to be doing as well as they are. Ranieri has done a fantastic job and the work rate of the team is just phenomenal. I think City are suffering with the effects of too many injuries in the squad (51 this year compared with 15 for Leicester) and this doesn't bode well for the Champion's League. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't win anything this year, not helped by the FA's rescheduling of the FA fixture with Chelsea.

That's the spirit, Steve.
Mr Dolan: where's the romantic in you?

I've never had a romantic in me

Oh, you surely remember the '80s Chris.

Not if we keep playing like we did this evening, Beginner.

yeah I should know that really...... This is West Ham we're talking about, after 50 years you'd think I'd know better.......felt everything we did tonight seemed so slow, we need to play with the intensity as we did against city

Oh Victor Wanyama!, Victor, Victor. He just went straight through Dimitri Payet, not even close to the ball. Saints seemed to manage alright despite the rain. I'd have liked to see Charlie Austin get one late on. He put his foot through it with style but it went wide.
Oriol Romeu's time has come with bad boy Vic out for five games.

Wish I was posting on the 'what are you listening to.....' thread. Unfortunalty watching The Toon being stuffed 5-0 by Chelsea. Not sure how these guys can be paid so much for being half asleep and making mistakes I would have got a kick up the backside for when at school. Oh well we just got one back!

I feel for you. Losing to a team as crap as Chelsea must be terribly humiliating.

5-1,
give them some credit.
Posted on: 13 February 2016 by CariocaJeff
Yes they scored while I was typing.
still can't give any credit. I've had people work for me who were too comfortable so they put little effort in at work. At least getting rid of them only cost a bit of notice period. Feel a bit for football managers as getting rid of people who hardly try loses them millions!

I feel your pain, supporting Newcastle myself.Living in South Shields we have a mix of Newcastle and Sunderland supporters. So you can imagine not many happy fans in sunny shields.

Man City V Spurs today. My fingers are crossed and will say a little prayer. If victory comes then it will be Leicester City to catch up or Arsenal to beat to catch up with the Foxes...

Spurs rather fortunate with the penalty and a draw might have been a fairer result overall. Must say the resilience and organisation being shown by Spurs this season is very unusual for them. They look very likely to achieve a top four finish.
Oh, and I do feel for the poor old Villa fans. Championship football for them next season.

Good day for Man United - no change in the gap to top or fourth

Just two points behind Leicester. Now the race has started in earnest, will the Lilly White Phoenix rise to claim the prize?

Hmm. You wouldn't be clutching at straws there, Mr Dolan, would you?

...and so your faith has been vindicated, Chris. Good to see a youth team player coming good in the first team, too.

I have to admit that I was a bit worried until the fourth goal went in Reality will probably hit again on Sunday against Arsenal

I know it's only half-an-hour gone but Rashford seems to be having a dream afternoon. Man U looking like their old selfs so far. Wenger looking grumpy. Good game.
