Football season 2015/16

Well the new season beckons, though I see some unfortunate clubs have been playing Europa League qualifiers already (no summer hols for the Hammers). So I thought I’d kick off (pun intended) with some predictions.
In the PL, as I did last season, I’m going to tip Chelsea to win the title. Mourinho has freshened his squad, it’s a bit younger and I suspect he has retained the all-important hunger. I also won’t be surprised if Mourinho gets Falcoa to fire in the way we know he can.
Man City/Man U and Arsenal to fight out the next three places. I further predict mid-table mediocrity to Liverpool (if so, Rodgers may not survive past Xmas), while Palace enjoy a season in the top half.
At the bottom, I hope Bournemouth survive while my head says not but whatever happens I hope the club and their fans have a thoroughly enjoyable season. I think Watford will drop with the other relegation place being between Leicester, Norwich and Villa.
I think the Championship is very hard to call. If QPR retain Charlie Austin I can see them bouncing back. I don’t see Burnley doing so. Nor Hull. Ipswich might make it this time.
Of course I’m hoping my lot will get promoted out of League Two under our new manager Paul Cook but I’ve been following them for long enough to know that disappointment is very possible again.

Yes, you're right it was 2002.... I had to look it up

The writing was on the wall. He was living on borrowed time and should probably have left in the summer. I guess the next is likely to be Jose, he seems to have completely lost the plot.

Message to Liverpool's owners: Sam Allardyce is available. He's good at helping clubs avoid relegation.

I thought he was doing a great job.
I bet Liverpools owners where punching the air when Lukaku slammed in the equaliser. A Liverpool victory would have made sacking him very difficult.

This has to be Chelsea fans' most embarrassing season since the club was founded 12 years ago.

What's the difference between a West Ham fan and a new baby?
At least the baby stops whining after a while...

Come on Jamie, you can do better than that...
How's your moan-y manager? Has he got the sack yet?

Klopp the favourite for replacing Rogers, some bets on Mourinho though funny old roundabout this managerial lark.
Latest is Liverpool will announce new chap before Spurs game on Oct 17th, who could it be must already be a done deal due to the timing, International break etc.

Nah. Can't be arsed. I've never been one for the inter tribal mud slinging of other football teams or their fans (apart from Spurs fans with their Oh so Holier than thou bullshit!)
Strikes me as completely ridiculous to slag off 50,000 people and their sporting preference especially when it's so often relentlessly repetitive and child like in it's simplicity, and the same of a manager/player (unless he's genuinely and hilariously out of his depth perhaps). It's akin to 'fans' hurling appalling abuse at another team's player while taking a corner a few yards in front of them, 12 year olds 'wanking' at them, or telling the opposition supporters repeatedly that their dad's a c*nt, or even lobbing a few bananas about. Just plain old neanderthal.
The 'fans', the public, the media religiously have a pop at footballers for being pea brained and poorly behaved both on and off the pitch yet when it comes to Saturday afternoon a large percentage of a million or more people indulge in relentlessly puerile habits that a baboon would be ashamed of and then insist on continuing in such a manner ad infinitum at the pub, online, 5 live phone ins...Whatever.
I support Surrey and Wasps. I go to cricket or Rugby matches and nothing like this goes on during or after. No one travels to have a pop at the MCC or Bath. Strange.

That's because football is a deeply tribal sport, and always has been - which presumably accounts for its popularity. The rivalries between, say West Ham and Millwall, or Rangers and Celtic, or Man U and Liverpool, or most oif all, Boca Juniors and River Plate have their roots in class, regional squabbles and old hatreds.
Better that passion than American so-called sports (I've seen NFL, basketball and baseball in the States) where people just seem to stuff their faces with pizza, hot dogs and drink warm watery beer. That's just boring. Or "rugger", which is both incomprehensible and tedious.
With you all the way on Spurs fans though.

That cheered me up after a long trying day - thank you Kevin

Two points lost at St Mary's today as Saints drew 2-2 with Leicester after being two nil up at half time. Jamie Vardy managed to cut through the Soton defence all too easily, with Saints barely able to mount a second half attack. A complete contrast to the Chelsea game a fortnight ago. Ugh.

Leicester seem very resilient this season with a team spirit that makes up for their technical deficiencies against many teams.
I was pleased my lot ground out a 1-0 win away at Newport to stay 2nd. Not playing well but still picking up points.
Felt a bit sorry for Everton fans today: the loss of H Kendall being followed up with a comprehensive home defeat by the Red Devils.

A tough test for West Ham against a very good Palace side, but we managed to come good, even if we had to work a little too hard against 10 men.
Fourth in the table, a team full of exciting talent (Lanzini, Payet, Moses, Oxford etc), great to watch, a brilliant, charismatic manager... how different things are from the dire days of Hippo Head. I noticed he called us (WHU fans) "deluded" and "brainwashed" earlier this week in his poxy book. Now the fat, arrogant gum-chewing oaf has got his tenure at Sunderland off to a good start with a loss. That's what I call karma.

I thought Bilic would well for the Hammers, Kevin, but in the Champions League position is nose-bleed territory (with apologies to Ken on another thread)?!

I was concerned about Man City with both Aguero and Silva out injured, along with Kolorov but they still managed 5 goals. Big game next week, United will feel confident with two of our biggest 'guns' out.

But Sterling seems to be settling in nicely Steve

I'm more impressed with De Brunye. I think he'll become a real star player in the near future. Sterling is settling in nicely but he's a bit light weight physically IMO.
Good to see the Hammers having a good start to the season Kevin.

Cheers Steve. It is nice to see us doing well for a change. No idea how long it'll last though.
Yes, de Brunye was a very good buy. He looks class. Despite a couple of blips (one of them against us, I'm pleased to say), City still look like the team to beat this season.

I was a little surprised - but delighted - by United's performance yesterday. I think I'll stay away from Goodson Park next time too.
So far United have won all of the away games that I have not been to this season

In which case, I must have a word with the corporate caterers at St Mary's, Chris, to ensure that you are lured by prawn and rocket sarnies, and chilled Chablis, both of the highest order :-)

Actually Chris the game at St Mary's is the only away win that I have been to this season so far
