Football season 2015/16

Posted by: MDS on 02 August 2015

Well the new season beckons, though I see some unfortunate clubs have been playing Europa League qualifiers already (no summer hols for the Hammers). So I thought I’d kick off (pun intended) with some predictions.

In the PL, as I did last season, I’m going to tip Chelsea to win the title.  Mourinho has freshened his squad, it’s a bit younger and I suspect he has retained the all-important hunger. I also won’t be surprised if Mourinho gets Falcoa to fire in the way we know he can.

Man City/Man U and Arsenal to fight out the next three places.  I further predict mid-table mediocrity to Liverpool (if so, Rodgers may not survive past Xmas), while Palace enjoy a season in the top half.

At the bottom, I hope Bournemouth survive while my head says not but whatever happens I hope the club and their fans have a thoroughly enjoyable season. I think Watford will drop with the other relegation place being between Leicester, Norwich and Villa.

I think the Championship is very hard to call.  If QPR retain Charlie Austin I can see them bouncing back. I don’t see Burnley doing so. Nor Hull. Ipswich might make it this time.

Of course I’m hoping my lot will get promoted out of League Two under our new manager Paul Cook but I’ve been following them for long enough to know that disappointment is very possible again.

St Mary's? Well, as the typical Man United supporter Chris is, that's practically a home game, he lives in the Bournemouth area.

Cheers Steve  I'm still working on a ticket for the Bournemouth game in December  - I will however be in Manchester (well Salford) next Sunday

More woes for Mourinho today. Can't wait to watch the highlights tonight.

Well done Hammers.

I'm it will be a clear-cut case of the gods, officials, FA, fixture list, FIFA etc conspiring to prevent Chelsea winning

Congrats to Watford also with their first away win.

Indeed - I was torn between wanting West Ham to win and the fact thay they would temporarily go second

Shame that they did not score again as they would have gone above Liverpool

So yet again the Black Cats lord it over the Magpies.  I feel a bit for Newcastle fans this evening. The euphoria of last week's thumping of Norwich must now be a distant memory and many must be dreading the ribbing that will follow at work tomorrow from Sunderland fans.

So Villa sack Tim Sherwood,so who will be there next manager?

Moyes

Brendan Rogers

Mourinho  ?

Oh well - I suppose that a draw was about right. Within Old Trafford I felt that United shaded it and City were happier with the result.

Five and a half hour journey home just started !!!

You would think that.

Enjoy your trip back Chris

It was madness at the Boleyn yesterday, a great victory, thoroughly deserved, despite what Chelsea fans might say. There is always a special pleasure to be had from beating the PL's least-liked team and their graceless manager and fans.

Sitting third in the league - though I expect we'll be done over by Watford next Saturday. Chelsea look in deep trouble though.

Villa seem to be in all sorts of trouble Karl, and their malaise goes much deeper than a change of manager. Lerner wants to sell up, doesn't want to spend any money and the board are governed by a toxic mixture of apathy and tight-fistedness. Shame, I like Villa, proper old club.

Bournemouth 1 - Spurs 5

That, I like.

Three more points last night.

10 League games without a loss.

5th in the table.

I'm very happy.

Do you think it will last Steve? The Spuds tend to fall apart at some stage of the season much to the chagrin of a few of my best mates who are Spurs supporters. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Steve,

Having been following them since 1961, I know well of what you speak. However, like any fan I'm an optimist...

Nice to see Man City qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League, and with two games to spare. Perhaps they will now start to play to their capabilities in this competition, having disappointed in recent years.

They played really well Mike. To be fair though they have had the worst of draws over the past few years. It's good to see they're the first British club to qualify for the next round and if they play like they did last night they will hopefully go through as leaders of the group and have a decent draw for the knockout stages.

Who can believe that Chelsea lost again. Well done Stoke. Also well done Leicester who are now level on points with City and Arsenal.

Yes, the Foxes and Vardy seem to be having a season of their dreams. Good on them.

On a sadder note I was sorry to see the passing of Bobby Campbell.

Posted on: 08 November 2015 by Chris Dolan

Have Chelsea actually taken any disciplinary action again Jose Mourinho for any of his behaviour to date?

Posted on: 08 November 2015 by JamieWednesday
Rather bizarrely I suggested to some mates, all fans of other teams (who are all delighted at Chelsea's strife), that we could bring back Bobby Campbell (record div 2 points win tag end of the '80s, mates with Bates - often seen roaming with Roman). Alas... RIP.
