Itunes Internet Radio vs. Iradio

I live in New Zealand and own a Uniti 2. I have been finding that the quality of the BBC radio internet stream via iradio is a lot  poorer than the stream from  my Apple tv via digital  connect to the Uniti 2. The latest firmware update refers to improved BBC HLS format which I presume is only available locally in the UK?

 

What are others experience?

 Yes,   HLS is UK only  -  BBC control how & where their services go

 I have discussed this with an ex-pat Brit in S.Africa & listened on his Cyrus + Sonos & iTunes/PC & could not hear any differences with BBC services.   However line speed & drop outs are his biggest problem.
