iMac question

Posted by: BigH47 on 12 August 2015

I have been clearing some old thumb drives and general housekeeping. Result is I have 2 files on my desktop a .icbu old calendar and a .abbu an old address files.

I have finished with them but they won't go into the trash an error -

"The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -43)"

All translations I have found helpfully tell me something is misusing.

Any way of "force deleting" or equivalent ?

Just go into the Mac's Disk Utility program & erase them.

I'm sorry Tony I can't see how to get to 2 specific files on my desktop, with disc utility.

I've sorted out the USB drives and formatted them etc. It's these 2 rogue files.

Have you already tried a simple restart (not only logout-login)?

Still the same.

It seems the use of cmd key whilst doing a drag and drop moves a file, not just the OSX default of copy.

So I moved the files to a USB stick and formatted it again and viola!
