OSX mailwasher?

Seeing the comments in the Win 10 thread, prompted the though of an Mac version  or equivalent.

Does it exist and are there any recommendations, for handling  junk mail programmes?

I would stick with Google, unless you have some privacy concerns.

Howard,  I see you're on BT  (btinternet dot com),  BT (Yahoo) mail is not compatible with MailWasher.

I find the BT spam feature picks up on the obvious bad/scam/phishing type mails OK.  Some smart ones get thru,  funny the only one that got thru in the last while that got missed in the BT scam filter was a "Dear Customer - we need to check - please click here"  purporting to be from BT

I think I'm pretty well covered mail wise with BT,  plus they have the cookie (advert) reducing control,  & with web stuff as I'm with BT I have their NetProtect (McAfee). Plus I search with & have all my www favourites linked on Google Chrome (on the banner line)   & additionally use Simple AdBlock & Ghostery,  both are good extra's for watching & blocking www snooping.

Thanks guys.

I'm not to tech savvy as many will attest to.

I have a a couple of accounts running in "MAIL" on my iMac, it seems recently that the amount of crap is increasing.

I'll look again at what settings I have .

Hey BigH47, I used to use the Mac Mail App a long time ago, if I recall correctly, under "Preferences", you can configure the junk mail settings, and it kind of works.

Also there is an app (SpamSieve, I think), it works quite well, but it will cost you 30 US bucks.

Thanks Peter.

I suppose another question is, is there a better solution for handling the mails on an iMac based system?

Do not know about a better method, each person have their own preferences, my chosen method is to redirect all incoming mail to a Gmail address and using IMAP protocol to collect in Thunderbird on the two OSX machines and the IOS machines. I only delete mail on the defined master machine, eg the Mac Pro when at home and the Mac Book Pro when travelling.

However I think the Mail system BT uses does not allow you to automatically redirect mail to another address. So to use Gmail you would have to go through a name change process with all your contacts and memberships.  However this can be a good way of dropping off commercial mailing lists.

Why do I use Gmail as a collector of mail - it has a very good Spam collection system, at one time I was getting about 200 spam emails a day and Gmail prevented me from getting swamped.

Yes, stick with google gmail is a good move for private and small business users, as I mentioned previously.

I quite like your email redirection solution, very smart.
