Suggest a 2nd hand amp for Sonus faber venere2.5 under a grand?

2nd time I've ask this question I know, but would like to hear more ideas.. Naim or otherwise.

Sonus Fabers can be a bit of a complex load at times so you will probably want something with a little muscle. For your budget, you may find some tired olive that you can get serviced later on after you've saved a little money, but it will probably be difficult to get into 180/250 territory.

Maybe the AVI Laboratory Series integrated amp is a good option. If you like the Naim sound, you may like this one, too. And I hear it can deliver quite a bit of juice when challenged.

Yes, I've heard the same about this little avi lab series amp. It is on my short list, with the naim nait sx, primare i30, cyrus 8xp ... Others...?

Not sure what currency you are talking about.

Possibly a used Rogue Audio Cronus amp or a Prima Luna integrated amp.  The SF really mesh wth valve amplification.

I use the Rogue with a pair of Venere 1.5 with a Naim Source and it is a good listen.

I don't care much for reviews regarding sound signatures of equipment, but i do value the measurements of in reviews such as the one in stereophile.

http://www.stereophile.com/con...speaker-measurements

Here the venere is stated to be an easy electrical load and thus can be driven with any aplifier as long as it delivers quality current. Sensitivity is a little lower but this does not have to be a problem. (i use similar sensitive sonus faber speakers to great succes).

I have heard these speakers with musical fidelity M3, M6 and Primare i32 none had any problems driving them, bur all exept the M3 are out of budget.

Instead of any options from MF or Primare i went the Naim route and have never regretted it.

In your situation either a Nait 5(italic/SI) or even a preloved XS will do just fine. Take the matching source with the entry level Nait and you'll have a beautifully balanced system.

Has anyone tried the Odyssey Khartago with Naim sources? A new one would be within budget and the reviews I can find are glowing (apparently the head honcho at Magico uses one for testing their speakers)

I've been thinking of trying one to see if it offers me anything extra against my nap100, but am waiting until I have my speakers setup properly on my incoming custom stands before deciding.

Thanks,
Interesting to hear the sonus faber 2.5 don't require a "warm" amp.
Easy to drive as well....
I was hearing the opposite opinions! Warm and powerfull!

My idea was a nait sx ( not '2' as out of my price range) ( don't like the look of any of the old boxes-olive look either)
I have cyrus 111 with power and psx-r. Could I just add a x-power or 8xp?
I do hear good things with the naim that it's a different sound to the cyrus... Better?
What would give the best result?
Listen to all types of music! Need something that will play well at low volumes as well.
Thanks again for your comments!!!

Naim nait xs
Any good for my set up?

I've got an option to upgrade (?) to a naim nait xs-2
Will it suit the sonus faber venere 2.5?  Do I stick to the cyrus 3 +psx-r with 2 powers? I could pay for the upgrade by ebaying the cyrus?!
Does anyone have experience with a audiolab m-dac with the naim nait xs2 or any naim amp?

If you can stretch to £1300 the new Hegel H80 integrated could be worth having a listen to, has a stiff power supply on its 75 watts and doubles into 4 ohms with a very high damping factor - better able to control the venere 2.5s bass.   Also has a built in DAC.  Have read a lot of reviews of the venere 2.5 and which reviewers used Hegel amps.

Have used Exposure's 3010 integrated . Sounded great. Has 100 watts with stiff power supply that doubles into 4 ohm and nearly doubles again into 2 ohms - also with a high but not excessively so damping factor.

Watts might be an issue if you have a large room, but for normal listening the Naim XS revised version would sound great. Best try and get a home audition if you can.

Using savvy bartering and getting lucky on the right day your money could get you a pre loved Naim SN1.

Thanks for your ideas. Need to be under a grand, so a supernait 1 would be over?. I've got a m-dac so don't realy need the supernait dac unless it's a quality improvement.
Hegel amp is at the top of my wish list but over budget. again has a dac so don't realy want to pay for a extra dac unless it's a step up from the audiolab m-dac.
Mixed review from What hifi regarding the naim nait xs 2- any Personel reviews?
Needs to sound good at lower to mid levels as well.

Plenty on the forum who love the nait 5si and the XS.

Dont read to much in reviews that give star points especially What Hifi ! Useful in drawing up a wish list but best to use your own ears.

But ,my take on the XS if your interested...

Got a great price on a demo Exposure 3010 a while back which proved a step up from an Audiolab vintage 8000a ( which I also thought was great) Both shared great tone but Exposure had a lot more get go.   Later treated myself to a Nait XS because I previously just bought a CD5X - and got the Naim sound - not as lively" as the Exposure and CD5x combo, but more calmer. where the Exposure amp kind of threw music at me listening and was thrilling with some material, the XS had just as much if not more detail and music seemed more grounded - as if the musicians are conveyed as more realistically taking a specific place on a stage and staying there - not moving about when a mix moves from being simple to busy.

At low listening levels, well it was not before I put in unswitched silver wall sockets and Nordost Vishnu power and Nordost Blue Heaven speaker cables that I got stunning results.... Probably better than what I'm running now thinking about it .

Neil, I have these speakers and I use a Cyrus 8DAC with a PSX-R to great effect, I downsized from Naim separates.

But if you are looking to spend roughly 1500 pounds, $2300.00 dollars that's still a little shy of an 8DAC new. I am not sure the Cyrus 6Dac would do the speakers justice, plus you can't use the PSX-R with the smaller amp.

There is an integrated amp I have heard with the Venere line that really sounded great, the Rogue Sphinx 2 integrated amp, it cost $1250.00 dollars new, that's about 800 pounds, puts out 100 watts and sounds great with the speakers. If you can audition, I highly advise you to seek it out.

Thanks badlands,
That's realy one good tip off. I'll seek it out and do some research.

What do people think of a Storm audio Ri 70 revelation... been offered one £1300
can't find much on google.

I hear a lot of good things about class d amplification and how it's moving on.
