which mac mini ?

will the cheapest mac mini  be ok with dac V1/audivana please 

to would only be used for music

Apple Mac mini MGEM2B/A Desktop Computer, Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB £399

sadly memory is now soldered in

the next one up is £569 but with 8 Gb

In a machine that does nothing other than stream music there should be no issue with 4Gb of ram.  Been using a similar configuration myself, just using a superior operating system. ;-)

Go for the 8GB upgrade on the RAM.  

 

There would be no issue with 4GB (Check out the online manual).  However,  having 8Gb gives the scope  to load long playlists on albums into memory, especially high res files. It also future proofs the Mini.

 

 

I maxed my mini out with 16Gb because it was good VFM.

 

Audirvana has beeen and continues to be brilliant, as does the V1.
