No album artwork on iPad when using UPNP

Posted by: GregWPGibbs on 06 September 2015

Hi guys,

I've just bought a Muso and am generally blown away by it.

I've installed a number of different UPNP packages onto my Mac Mini (late 2012 model running El Capitan public beta os), but in each case, when I go into UPNP on my iPad, I see a lot of blank files rather than the album art. When I click on the individual album, the artwork is displayed along with the track list, but when viewing them all, this is not the case.

I consider myself fairly IT literate, but admit to being bamboozeled by this - am I doing something stupid?

We need a bit more information such as what UPnP software you are using but my instinct is that you are viewing in folder/file  view. If you view in album view you will see the album covers  but folder or file view will give you a blank box that when clicked will have the album art beside each track.

choosing the first option here will give what you have mentioned, choosing the second or third will give what you wish for (or should, this is an asset screen shot from iPhone)

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually using Magestic as it seems to be the one most people recommend, but I'd be interested in other suggestions. incidentally, I do select Album (Magestic doesn't seem to have the option of Folders and Filename) but I still see the file format rather than album artwork? ?

I've no knowledge of Magestic but asset has many many users on here and works well.

there is a free version but most of us end up on the paid for a few bells and whistles, check if it sorts your issue and then you know it's a Magestic issue.

Thanks for the info. I installed asset-UPNP and have had moderate success, in that about 95% of the artwork is now showing. I'm not sure why the missing artwork isn't there -  I may try deleting the artwork in iTunes and adding it again? Any ideas? The software iself is a lot more comprehensive than Magestic.

I have just installed Asset. I did have about 6 albums without artwork, but sorted the problem by pasting the album cover into the album folder, then name it folder.jpg. The artwork then showed up as normal.

I have also editted the browse tree down to just Artist/Album/Artist. Music access is now so much faster!
