Van Morrison - Up on Cyprus Avenue

Posted by: Dustysox on 07 September 2015

Hi all,

If you like Van Morrison this might be one to watch. It's on the iplayer.

Recorded on his birthday, highlights of Van Morrison's unique live performance on the Belfast avenue he made famous through the iconic album Astral Weeks.

He smiles all the way through the concert

I was lucky enough to see him at Blenheim Palace in the summer and really enjoyed it.

I'm sure I'm mistaken but I think I detected a smile at one stage Dusty! Great concert by one of the great artists of our time.

Bless you Tony, I was beginning to think we had no Van fans here!!

He is good, I've been "collecting" from the "River" recently many of his albums. I seem to have become addicted to him. Some of his old stuff is most excellent .

Off topic a wee bit, sorry I did not get to the show last weekend, I would so loved to have sat down with you and shared a shandy or two with you.

Eh, back to Mr Morrison.

Sorry you couldn't make it Dusty, it would have been good to catch up with you again.

I think I've now got all Van's albums, save Veedon Fleece. It's all great of course but I do tend to favour his older stuff. If you haven't already got them I can thoroughly recommend his live albums "Too Late To Stop Now" and "A Night In San Francisco". Brilliant.

Ah, but I bought most of mine when they were cheap!

From what I understand, most of Van's output is to be re-released, hopefully at a more reasonable price.
